TOPIC: DON’T BE CARRIED AWAY!

Welcome to today’s devotional encounter! Vs. 13 of our basic scripture says, “And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.” Oh! Note these words again: “INSOMUCH THAT BARNABAS ALSO WAS CARRIED AWAY WITH THEIR DISSIMULATION!” Wow! If Barnabas could be carried away, then you’ve got to watch it this year! Barnabas was well rooted in the Gospel, but he was carried away with the actions, inactions and sentiments of Peter and the rest! You have to stand your ground like Apostle Paul and only focus on things relating to your divine assignment, salvation and faith in Jesus Christ than on nonessentials! It didn’t matter who it was – a judge, a ruler, or his fellow apostle Peter; Paul said what had to be said! In Vs. 16 of today’s scripture, Paul noted: “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ…and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” The law was a critical DIVISIVE ISSUE in the early church because many of the converts were Jews who believed in DOCTRINES of, “Gentiles can NEVER be BORN AGAIN,” touch not,” “eat not,” “wear not,” etc. Although they believed in Jesus, some of them just would not let go of their legalistic ways! And what the Holy Ghost is saying to a user of today’s devotional is: Don’t allow DIVISIONS in the BODY OF CHRIST, through the issue of YOUR CHURCH DOCTRINES, etc! Doctrines are important but some of them are not essential to your salvation. Watch and pray! Search the WORD against any doctrine! HEAVEN AT LAST!
