Even our Master, Jesus, was called the Friend of sinners (Matthew 11:19).
Beloved, you are advised to apply wisdom so that the primary objective is achieved. Your heart disposition toward people must be genuine.
Jesus exemplified a timeless principle: You can love a sinner without loving the sin, and you can hate the sin without hating the sinner.
Beloved, let love, wisdom, and understanding define your approach to soul winning.

Introduction: The Urgency of Soul Winning

“Apply wisdom so that the primary objective is achieved.”
The primary objective is souls saved, lives transformed, destinies changed. If our methods actually hinder this objective, we must re-evaluate. Wisdom asks:
- What approach will open hearts rather than close them?
- What words will draw rather than repel?
- What attitude will attract rather than offend?
Wisdom does not compromise the message but contextualizes the delivery. It maintains truth while maximizing receptivity.
Genuine Heart Disposition
“Your heart disposition toward people must be genuine.”
People can sense authenticity. If we engage in evangelism out of duty, guilt, or religious obligation, the lack of genuine love will be evident. But if we truly care about people, if we genuinely desire their salvation, if we authentically love them, that love will communicate louder than our words.
The Timeless Principle
Dr. Enenche encapsulates Jesus’ approach in a memorable principle:
“You can love a sinner without loving the sin, and you can hate the sin without hating the sinner.”
This is the balance that many miss. On one side, some love the sinner so much that they tolerate the sin, compromising truth. On the other side, some hate the sin so much that they despise the sinner, compromising love. Jesus maintained both—perfect love for the sinner and perfect hatred for the sin.

Jesus was “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). He did not sacrifice truth for grace or grace for truth. He held both in perfect tension. Effective soul winning requires the same balance—truth that confronts sin, grace that welcomes sinners.
PART FOUR: PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
Before You Witness
Pray for love – Ask God to give you genuine compassion for the lost
Check your motives – Ensure you are witnessing out of love, not obligation
Prepare your heart – Deal with any pride, judgment, or hardness
As You Witness
Listen first – Understand where people are before you speak
Ask questions – Engage in dialogue, not monologue
Show respect – Treat people with dignity, even when you disagree
Be patient – Conversion is a process, not always an event
After You Witness
Pray for those you reached – Intercede for their salvation
Follow up – Maintain relationship where possible
Trust God – The results are ultimately in His hands

Father, I thank You for the privilege of being Your ambassador, entrusted with the message of reconciliation. I thank You that You have called me to be a witness, to share the good news of salvation with a lost world.
Lord, I ask for the heart of Jesus toward sinners. Give me genuine love and compassion for those who do not know You. Remove every trace of judgment, pride, and impatience from my heart.
Give me wisdom in every evangelistic encounter. Help me to know what to say and when to say it. Give me discernment to understand the people I am reaching—their backgrounds, their struggles, their needs.
Let my words be seasoned with grace. Let my attitude be attractive. Let my life be a living testimony of Your transforming power.
I pray for those I will witness to. Open their hearts to receive the gospel. Remove the veil from their eyes. Draw them by Your Spirit.
I declare that I am guided, compassionate, and fruitful in soul winning.
In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
CONCLUSION: THE HIGHEST CALLING
Soul winning is not just one activity among many; it is the highest calling of the church. Nothing else we do has eternal consequences. Nothing else we invest in lasts forever. The souls of men and women are of infinite value, and reaching them with the gospel is the most important work on earth.
But how we do it matters. The message is non-negotiable, but the method requires wisdom. We must learn the art—the skill, the craft, the wisdom—of presenting eternal truth in ways that are received.
Love. Wisdom. Understanding. These are the pillars of effective soul winning.
