And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

And at the seventh time he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
PRAYER POINTS

Father, give me the faith of Elijah — to declare rain before there is a single cloud. Let me hear the sound of abundance before I see the evidence.

Lord, teach me to go to the top of Carmel — to the place of prayer and surrender — when others are eating and drinking. Let me not be distracted by the world’s celebrations.

Father, give me the posture of Elijah: casting myself down upon the earth, putting my face between my knees. Let me pray until the answer comes.

Lord, when the servant says “There is nothing,” let me send him again and again. Give me the perseverance to go seven times, refusing to give up.

Father, open my eyes to see the little cloud like a man’s hand. Let me not despise small beginnings. The great rain starts with a little cloud.

DECLARATIONS

I declare that I hear the sound of abundance of rain. My drought is over. My season of harvest has come.

I go to the top of Carmel. I cast myself down. I put my face between my knees. I will not rise until the rain comes.

I refuse to be discouraged by the first report of “nothing.” I will go again seven times. My perseverance shall see the cloud.

I see the little cloud like a man’s hand. I do not despise the small beginning. The great rain is coming.

The heaven over my life is black with clouds and wind. The great rain is falling. Every dry place is being watered.

The hand of the Lord is upon me. I gird up my loins. I am ready to run.

I run before every chariot. I outrun every enemy. I reach my Jezreel by the power of God.

The drought is over. The rain is here. I will not stop until I see the fullness of God’s outpouring.

Elijah’s Two Postures:
In verse 42, while Ahab went up to eat and drink, Elijah went up to the top of Carmel and cast himself down upon the earth, putting his face between his knees. This is the posture of desperate, persistent prayer. Ahab feasted while Elijah travailed. The one who travailed brought the rain.
The Seven Times:
Elijah sent his servant seven times. After the first six times, the report was the same: “There is nothing.” But Elijah did not give up. He sent him again. The seventh time brought the report of a little cloud. Your breakthrough may be one more prayer away. Do not stop after six times.
The Little Cloud:
The cloud was the size of a man’s hand — small, almost insignificant. But Elijah recognized it immediately. He did not wait for the sky to turn black. He saw the small sign and acted in faith. Do not despise the day of small things. The great rain starts with a little cloud.
The Great Rain:
Verse 45 says the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. What started as a little cloud became a downpour. Your small beginning will become a great harvest. Your little cloud will become a flood of blessing.
The Hand of the Lord:
Verse 46 says the hand of the LORD was on Elijah, and he girded up his loins and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. The same Elijah who was weak and weary after the long drought was now running faster than a chariot. When the hand of the Lord comes upon you, supernatural strength follows. You will outrun your enemies. You will arrive ahead of schedule.
Question for the Day:
Have you heard the sound of abundance, or are you still listening to the silence of drought? Will you go to the top of Carmel and pray until the cloud appears? And when the little cloud comes, will you recognize it and run?
