BASIC SCRIPTURE: 1 KINGS 18:38-46

38. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

40. And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

41. And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

42. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

43. And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44. And at the seventh time he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

45. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46. And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, let the fire of the LORD fall upon my sacrifice today. Let every altar of Baal in my life be consumed. Let there be no doubt that You are God.

2. Lord, let Your fire consume every obstacle — the wood, the stones, the dust, and every water of the enemy that stands against Your glory.

3. Father, when the people see Your fire, let them fall on their faces and confess: “The LORD, he is the God.” Let every doubter be silenced by Your manifest presence.

4. Lord, give me the boldness of Elijah — to say to every false prophet in my life, “Let not one of them escape.” Let every lying voice be brought down and slain.

5. Father, let me hear the sound of abundance of rain even when the sky is clear. Give me faith to declare the harvest before I see the clouds.

6. Lord, teach me to go to the top of Carmel — to the place of prayer and surrender — when others are eating and drinking. Let me not be distracted.

7. Father, when the servant says “There is nothing,” let me send him again and again. Give me the perseverance to go seven times until the cloud appears.

8. Lord, let the hand of the LORD be upon me. Let me gird up my loins and run — outrunning every chariot, reaching my Jezreel ahead of schedule.

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that the fire of the LORD has fallen upon my life. Every altar of Baal is consumed. The LORD, He is God.

2. The wood, the stones, the dust, and the water of the enemy are licked up by His fire. Nothing shall stand before Him.

3. Every false prophet in my life is taken and slain. No lying voice shall escape. I serve the living God alone.

4. I hear the sound of abundance of rain. My drought is over. My harvest is here.

5. I go to the top of Carmel. I cast myself down. I put my face between my knees. I will not rise until the rain comes.

6. I refuse to be discouraged by the report of “nothing.” I will go again seven times. My perseverance shall see the cloud.

7. I see the little cloud like a man’s hand. I do not despise small beginnings. The great rain is coming.

8. The hand of the Lord is upon me. I gird up my loins. I run before every chariot. I reach my Jezreel by the power of God.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:38 — “Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”

The Fire and the Rain:

This passage contains two great manifestations of God’s power — first fire, then rain. The fire proved that God was real and that Baal was nothing. The rain proved that God was merciful and that the drought was over. You cannot have the latter rain without the former fire. First, God burns away the false. Then, He sends the fresh.

What the Fire Consumed:

The fire consumed the burnt sacrifice — the offering to God. It consumed the wood — the fuel of the altar. It consumed the stones — the very structure of the altar. It consumed the dust — the ground beneath. It licked up the water in the trench — every obstacle the enemy had placed. Nothing was left untouched. When God’s fire falls, it does a complete work.

The Response of the People:

When the people saw the fire, they fell on their faces. They did not argue. They did not debate. They fell and confessed: “The LORD, he is the God.” Twice they said it. One fire was enough to end three years of confusion. One touch of God can undo years of doubt.

Elijah’s Two Locations:

In verse 42, Ahab went up to eat and drink, but Elijah went up to the top of Carmel. Ahab was feasting while Elijah was travailing. The one who travailed brought the rain. You cannot bring rain to a generation if you are feasting with the world. You must go to the top of Carmel.

The Seven Times:

Elijah sent his servant seven times. Six times the report was “nothing.” The seventh time brought the little cloud. Your breakthrough may be one prayer away. Do not stop at six.

The Little Cloud:

The cloud was the size of a man’s hand — small, almost insignificant. But Elijah recognized it immediately. He did not wait for the sky to turn black. He saw the small sign and acted. Do not despise the day of small things. The great rain starts with a little cloud.

The Hand of the Lord:

Verse 46 says the hand of the LORD was on Elijah, and he ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. The same Elijah who was weak and weary after the long drought was now running faster than a chariot. When the hand of the Lord comes upon you, supernatural strength follows. You will outrun your enemies. You will arrive ahead of schedule.

Have you seen the fire fall? Or are you still serving on the altar of Baal? And when the little cloud appears, will you recognize it and run?
