BASIC SCRIPTURE: JUDGES 16: 18- 28

BASIC SCRIPTURE: WEDNESDAY, 21ST OCTOBER 2026 — JUDGES 16:18-28 (KJV)

  1. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

  2. And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

  3. And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

  4. But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

  5. Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

  6. Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

  7. And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

  8. And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

  9. And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

  10. Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

  11. And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

PRAYER POINTS — WEDNESDAY, 21ST OCTOBER 2026

  1. Father, deliver me from the spirit of Delilah — every seductive influence assigned to steal my strength and separate me from You.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — WEDNESDAY, 21ST OCTOBER 2026

Key Verse (Judges): Judges 16:22 — “Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.”

Key Verse (Judges): Judges 16:28 — “And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God.”

The Betrayal (Verse 18):

Delilah had finally succeeded. Samson had told her all his heart. He had revealed the secret of his strength. He had disclosed the source of his power. He had disclosed the covenant of his life. And Delilah wasted no time. She sent for the lords of the Philistines. She called them. She summoned them. She told them, “Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart.” They came. They brought money in their hands. They paid her for her treachery. They paid her for her betrayal. They paid her for her deceit. They paid her for the destruction of a man. They paid her for the death of a deliverer.

The Shaving (Verse 19):

Delilah made Samson sleep upon her knees. He was comfortable. He was relaxed. He was at peace. He was vulnerable. He was defenceless. He was trusting. And she called for a man. She called for a barber. She called for a servant of the enemy. And she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head. She cut off the symbol of his consecration. She removed the sign of his covenant. She destroyed the mark of his separation. She began to afflict him. She began to torment him. And his strength went from him. It did not gradually fade. It did not slowly diminish. It left. It departed. It was gone.

He Wist Not (Verse 20):

Samson awoke. The Philistines were upon him. He thought he could fight. He thought he could overcome. He thought he could defeat them as he had done before. He said, “I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself.” He thought nothing had changed. He thought he was still the same. He thought his strength was still there. But the Bible says, “And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” He did not know. He did not perceive. He did not realize. The Spirit of God had left him. The presence of God had departed. The power of God had withdrawn. And he did not even know it.

The Consequences (Verse 21):

The Philistines took him. They captured him. They subdued him. They put out his eyes. They blinded him. They brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with fetters of brass. They chained him. They imprisoned him. And he did grind in the prison house. He who had judged Israel. He who had defeated armies. He who had torn down gates. He who had slain thousands. Was now a slave. Was now blind. Was now bound. Was now grinding grain like an animal. Like a beast of burden. Like a common prisoner. He had fallen. He had fallen far. He had fallen hard. He had lost everything. He had lost his strength. He had lost his sight. He had lost his freedom. He had lost his ministry. He had lost his destiny.

The Hair Began to Grow (Verse 22):

But there is a glimmer of hope. The Bible says, “Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.” The hair began to grow. It did not grow instantly. It did not grow overnight. It grew gradually. It grew slowly. It grew quietly. But it grew. It was a sign. It was a symbol. It was a promise. It was a declaration. Restoration was beginning. Restoration was starting. Restoration was in process. God was not finished with Samson. God had not abandoned him. God had not forgotten him. God had not given up on him. Even in the prison. Even in the darkness. Even in the chains. Even in the shame. The hair was growing. Restoration was coming. Hope was alive.

The Final Prayer (Verse 28):

The Philistines gathered for a great sacrifice. They gathered to worship Dagon. They gathered to celebrate. They gathered to rejoice. They said, “Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.” They praised their god. They honoured their god. They exalted their god. They called for Samson. They wanted him to make sport. They wanted to mock him. They wanted to humiliate him. They wanted to laugh at him. They set him between the pillars. And Samson prayed. He prayed a simple prayer. “O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.” He asked for remembrance. He asked for strength. He asked for one more chance. He asked for one last victory. He asked for one final act.

The Lesson for Us:

Samson is a warning and a hope. He is a warning because he played with sin. He flirted with temptation. He toyed with compromise. He slept on the lap of Delilah. He revealed his secrets to the enemy. He lost his strength. He lost his sight. He lost his freedom. He lost his ministry. He lost his destiny. Do not be like Samson. Do not play with sin. Do not flirt with temptation. Do not toy with compromise. Do not sleep on the lap of Delilah. Do not reveal your secrets to the enemy. Guard your strength. Guard your sight. Guard your freedom. Guard your ministry. Guard your destiny. But Samson is also a hope. Because even after he fell. Even after he failed. Even after he sinned. Even after he lost everything. His hair began to grow again. Restoration began. God did not abandon him. God did not forget him. God did not give up on him. And God will not give up on you. No matter how far you have fallen. No matter how badly you have failed. No matter how deeply you have sinned. No matter how much you have lost. Your hair can begin to grow again. Restoration can begin. Hope can be restored. God can remember you. God can strengthen you. God can give you one more chance. God can give you one final victory. Cry out to Him. Pray to Him. Ask Him to remember you. Ask Him to strengthen you. Ask Him for one more chance. And watch what He will do.

Question for the Day — Wednesday, 21st October 2026:

Have you fallen like Samson? Have you lost your strength? Have you lost your sight? Have you lost your freedom? Do not despair. Your hair can begin to grow again. Restoration can begin. Cry out to God. He will remember you. He will strengthen you. He will give you one more chance.
