ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — TUESDAY, 27TH OCTOBER 2026

Key Verse (Ephesians): Ephesians 5:16 — “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

Key Verse (2 Timothy): 2 Timothy 2:21 — “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”

Walk Circumspectly (Ephesians 5:15):

Paul commands us to walk circumspectly. To walk circumspectly means to walk carefully. To walk accurately. To walk precisely. To walk attentively. To walk watchfully. To walk thoughtfully. To walk deliberately. Not as a fool. Not carelessly. Not recklessly. Not thoughtlessly. Not ignorantly. But as wise. With wisdom. With understanding. With discernment. With knowledge. With prudence. With skill. The believer is to walk wisely. The believer is to live wisely. The believer is to act wisely.

Redeeming the Time (Ephesians 5:16):

The believer is to redeem the time. To redeem means to buy back. To purchase. To reclaim. To rescue. To make the most of. To use wisely. To use productively. To use profitably. Time is precious. Time is valuable. Time is fleeting. Time is limited. Time is short. Time cannot be stored. Time cannot be saved. Time cannot be regained. Time can only be used. And the believer is to use it wisely. Because the days are evil. The days are dark. The days are dangerous. The days are difficult. The days are filled with temptation. The days are filled with opposition. The days are filled with distraction. So the believer must be intentional. The believer must be purposeful. The believer must be diligent.

Understanding the Will of the Lord (Ephesians 5:17):

Paul gives a final command. “Be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” Do not be foolish. Do not be ignorant. Do not be confused. Do not be deceived. Understand. Know. Discern. Perceive. The will of the Lord. What God wants. What God desires. What God commands. What God approves. What God blesses. This requires a relationship with God. This requires a knowledge of His word. This requires the leading of His Spirit. This requires prayer. This requires study. This requires obedience. The believer is to know the will of God and to do it.

Be Filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18):

Paul gives a contrast. “Be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” Wine leads to excess. Wine leads to loss of control. Wine leads to foolishness. Wine leads to sin. But the Spirit leads to self-control. The Spirit leads to wisdom. The Spirit leads to righteousness. The Spirit leads to holiness. The Spirit leads to joy. The Spirit leads to peace. The Spirit leads to power. The Spirit leads to fullness. Be filled with the Spirit. Not just once. Not just occasionally. Continually. Constantly. Consistently. Let the Spirit fill you. Let the Spirit control you. Let the Spirit guide you. Let the Spirit empower you.

Vessels of Honour and Dishonour (2 Timothy 2:20-21):

Paul uses the image of a great house. In a great house there are many vessels. Some are gold. Some are silver. Some are wood. Some are earth. Some are to honour. Some are to dishonour. The gold and silver vessels are used for noble purposes. They are used for special occasions. They are used for the master’s table. They are used for the master’s service. But the wood and earth vessels are used for common purposes. They are used for daily tasks. They are used for menial chores. They are used for ordinary things. Paul says, if a man purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour. He shall be sanctified. He shall be meet for the master’s use. He shall be prepared unto every good work. Purge yourself. Cleanse yourself. Separate yourself. Remove everything that dishonours God. Remove every sin. Remove every compromise. Remove every distraction. And become a vessel of honour.

Flee Youthful Lusts (2 Timothy 2:22):

Paul gives a command to Timothy. Flee youthful lusts. Youthful lusts are the desires of youth. They are the passions of youth. They are the temptations of youth. They are sexual lust. They are romantic fantasies. They are material cravings. They are ambition. They are pride. They are rebellion. They are impatience. They are recklessness. Flee them. Do not fight them. Do not entertain them. Do not negotiate with them. Flee. Run. Escape. And follow righteousness. Follow faith. Follow charity. Follow peace. Pursue these virtues. Chase after them. Run after them. With them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Do not run alone. Run with others. Run with the community of faith. Run with those who are pure in heart.

Avoid Foolish Questions (2 Timothy 2:23):

Paul gives another command. Avoid foolish and unlearned questions. Foolish questions are questions that have no value. Unlearned questions are questions that have no basis. They are questions that generate strife. They are questions that divide. They are questions that distract. They are questions that destroy. Avoid them. Do not engage in them. Do not debate them. Do not argue about them. Focus on what matters. Focus on what builds up. Focus on what unites. Focus on what glorifies God.

The Servant of the Lord (2 Timothy 2:24-25):

Paul describes the servant of the Lord. The servant of the Lord must not strive. Must not argue. Must not fight. Must not quarrel. Must be gentle unto all men. Must be kind. Must be patient. Must be apt to teach. Must be able to instruct. Must be able to explain. Must be able to guide. And in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves. Those who are in error. Those who are in sin. Those who are in deception. Those who oppose the truth. Instruct them. Teach them. Correct them. With meekness. With humility. With gentleness. With patience. If God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. God may grant them repentance. God may open their eyes. God may change their hearts. God may save them. Your job is to be a vessel of honour. God’s job is to save. Be faithful. Be available. Be usable. And leave the results to God.

Question for the Day — Tuesday, 27th October 2026:

Are you walking circumspectly? Are you redeeming the time? Do you understand the will of the Lord? Are you filled with the Spirit? Are you a vessel unto honour? Have you purged yourself from things that dishonour God? Are you fleeing youthful lusts? Are you gentle, patient, and apt to teach?
