BASIC SCRIPTURE 4th October 2026 BIBLE READING PRAYER POINTS AND DECLARATIONS

BASIC SCRIPTURES: GENESIS 3:1-6; 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14-18
BASIC SCRIPTURE: SUNDAY, 4TH OCTOBER 2026 — GENESIS 3:1-6 (KJV)
-
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
-
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
-
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
-
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
-
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
-
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
BASIC SCRIPTURE: 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14-18 (KJV)
-
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
-
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
-
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
-
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
-
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — SUNDAY, 4TH OCTOBER 2026
Key Verse (Genesis): Genesis 3:6 — “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”
Key Verse (2 Corinthians): 2 Corinthians 6:14 — “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
The Subtle Serpent (Genesis 3:1):
The serpent was subtle. He was crafty. He was cunning. He was deceptive. He was shrewd. He did not come with a direct attack. He came with a question. “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” He planted doubt. He created confusion. He distorted the word of God. He twisted the truth. He made God look restrictive. He made God look stingy. He made God look harsh. He did not deny the existence of God. He questioned His goodness.
Eve’s Response (Genesis 3:2-3):
Eve responded. She quoted God’s command. But she added to it. God said, “Thou shalt not eat of it.” Eve said, “Neither shall ye touch it.” She added a restriction that God had not given. She exaggerated God’s command. She made it stricter. She made it harder. She made God seem more restrictive than He was. This is dangerous. Adding to God’s Word is dangerous. Taking away from God’s Word is dangerous. We must know exactly what God has said.
The Lie (Genesis 3:4-5):
The serpent changed his tactic. He denied God’s Word. He said, “Ye shall not surely die.” He called God a liar. He contradicted the truth. He said, “God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” He promised wisdom. He promised power. He promised equality with God. He appealed to pride. He appealed to ambition. He appealed to the desire to be like God. He made sin look desirable.
The Temptation (Genesis 3:6):
Eve looked at the tree. She saw three things. It was good for food. It was pleasant to the eyes. It was desirable to make one wise. The temptation was physical. The temptation was aesthetic. The temptation was intellectual. It appealed to the appetite. It appealed to the eyes. It appealed to the mind. And she took. And she ate. And she gave to her husband. And he ate. This was the original sin. This was the fall. This was the beginning of human suffering. Disobedience brought death. Disobedience brought separation. Disobedience brought judgment.
The Unequal Yoke (2 Corinthians 6:14):
Paul gives a clear command. “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” He uses a farming image. Two animals of different kinds were not to be yoked together. They could not work together. They would struggle. They would be pulled in different directions. They would hurt each other. Unequal yoking is harmful. Unequal yoking is dangerous. It applies to marriage. It applies to business. It applies to partnerships. It applies to any binding relationship. He asks a series of questions. What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? None. What communion hath light with darkness? None. What concord hath Christ with Belial? None. What part hath he that believeth with an infidel? None. What agreement hath the temple of God with idols? None. There is no agreement. There is no fellowship. There is no communion. There is no harmony.
The Temple of God (2 Corinthians 6:16):
Ye are the temple of the living God. This is our identity. This is our honor. This is our privilege. God has said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” God dwells in us. God walks in us. God is our God. We are His people. We belong to Him. We are His temple.
Come Out and Be Separate (2 Corinthians 6:17-18):
Because we are the temple of God, we must come out. We must be separate. We must not touch the unclean thing. We must not compromise. We must not mingle. We must not participate. We must not be unequally yoked. We must separate. And then God gives a promise. “I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” Separation brings fellowship. Separation brings intimacy. Separation brings sonship.
Question for the Day — Sunday, 4th October 2026:
Are you discerning the subtlety of the serpent? Are you adding to or taking away from God’s Word? Are you being drawn by what is good for food, pleasant to the eyes, or desirable to make one wise? Are you unequally yoked with unbelievers? And are you coming out and being separate, so that God can be your Father and you His son or daughter? BASIC SCRIPTURE 4th October 2026 BIBLE READING
