BASIC SCRIPTURE: ZECHARIAH 13:1-9 (KJV)

1. In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

2. And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall be no more remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

3. And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

4. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:

5. But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.

6. And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

7. Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

8. And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

9. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

BASIC SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 48:9-11 (KJV)

9. For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, let the fountain be opened to me today — a fountain for sin and for uncleanness. Wash me thoroughly from all iniquity. (Zechariah 13:1)

2. Lord, cut off every idol in my life. Let every false god, every hidden image, be removed and forgotten. (Zechariah 13:2)

3. Father, silence every false prophet and every unclean spirit that speaks lies in Your name. Let deception be exposed in my life. (Zechariah 13:2-3)

4. Lord, let me not be ashamed to abandon false visions and deceptive garments. Give me the courage to say, “I am no prophet” if I have been speaking lies. (Zechariah 13:4-5)

5. Father, though the shepherd is smitten and the sheep scattered, turn Your hand upon me — the little one. Do not leave me scattered. (Zechariah 13:7)

6. Lord, I receive the refining fire. Bring me through the fire and refine me as silver is refined. Let dross be removed from my life. (Zechariah 13:9)

7. Father, for Your name’s sake, defer Your anger against me. Do not cut me off, but refine me in the furnace of affliction. (Isaiah 48:9-10)

8. Lord, do this for Your own sake, not because I deserve it. Let Your name be glorified in my life, and give Your glory to no other. (Isaiah 48:11)

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that a fountain is opened for me today — for sin, for uncleanness, for every stain. I am washed in the blood of Jesus.

2. Every idol in my life is cut off. They shall no more be remembered. I serve the living God alone.

3. Every false prophet and unclean spirit speaking lies over my destiny is silenced and cast out.

4. I refuse to wear a rough garment to deceive. My life shall be marked by truth, not pretence.

5. Though the shepherd is smitten, the Lord’s hand is upon me. I am not forgotten among the little ones.

6. I am brought through the fire. I am refined as silver. I am tried as gold. I shall come forth as pure gold.

7. The Lord says to me: “It is my people.” And I say: “The LORD is my God.”

8. For God’s own sake, He refines me. He will not cut me off. He will not give His glory to another.

Key Verse (Zechariah): Zechariah 13:9 — “I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”

Key Verse (Isaiah): Isaiah 48:10 — “Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”

The Three Parts (Zechariah 13:8-9):

Why God Refines:

The Furnace of Affliction:

• Not punishment — purification

• Not rejection — selection

• Not the end — the entrance into calling on His name

The Fountain and the Fire:

• Fountain (Zechariah 13:1) — for sin and uncleanness (grace)

• Fire (Zechariah 13:9) — for refining and trying (discipline)

Both are acts of love. The fountain cleanses. The fire purifies.

Question for the Day: Are you in the furnace of affliction right now? Do not despair — you are being refined, not destroyed. The third part comes through the fire, not into it.
