BASIC SCRIPTURE 6th OCTOBER 2026 BIBLE READING PRAYER POINTS AND DECLARATIONS

BASIC SCRIPTURES: ROMANS 6:1-2; HEBREWS 10:26-31
BASIC SCRIPTURE: TUESDAY, 6TH OCTOBER 2026 — ROMANS 6:1-2 (KJV)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
BASIC SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 10:26-31 (KJV)
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

PRAYER POINTS — TUESDAY, 6TH OCTOBER 2026
Father, I refuse to continue in sin that grace may abound. God forbid that I should abuse Your grace.
Lord, I am dead to sin. Let me not live any longer therein. Let me walk in newness of life.
Father, deliver me from wilful sin. Let me not sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth.
Lord, let me not tread under foot the Son of God or count the blood of the covenant as an unholy thing.
Father, let me not do despite unto the Spirit of grace. Let me honour the Holy Spirit in all my ways.
Lord, I fear You. Let me not fall into the hands of the living God by my own rebellion.
Father, let me not provoke Your judgment. Let me walk in obedience and humility before You.
Lord, let me not be among those who despise Your law and die without mercy. Let me walk in the fear of the Lord.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — TUESDAY, 6TH OCTOBER 2026
Key Verse (Romans): Romans 6:1-2 — “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
Key Verse (Hebrews): Hebrews 10:31 — “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Shall We Continue in Sin? (Romans 6:1):
Paul asks a question. It is a rhetorical question. It is a question that demands an answer. “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” The logic is twisted. The reasoning is flawed. The question is absurd. Some were teaching that the more you sin, the more grace abounds. The more you sin, the more God forgives. The more you sin, the more God is glorified. So why not sin more? Why not sin abundantly? Why not sin freely? Why not sin without restraint? Because grace is available. Because grace is sufficient. Because grace is abundant. But Paul rejects this reasoning. He is horrified by it. He is appalled by it. He is outraged by it.
God Forbid (Romans 6:2):
Paul answers his own question. “God forbid.” Absolutely not. By no means. Never. Impossible. The very idea is repulsive. The very thought is blasphemous. The very suggestion is offensive. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? This is the key. We are dead to sin. We have died to sin. We have been crucified with Christ. We have been buried with Him. We have been raised with Him. We are new creatures. We are new creations. The old has passed away. The new has come. How can we live in what we have died to? How can we return to what we have left? How can we embrace what we have renounced? It is impossible. It is contradictory. It is inconsistent with our new identity.
Wilful Sin (Hebrews 10:26):
The writer of Hebrews gives a solemn warning. “If we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Wilful sin is deliberate sin. It is intentional sin. It is premeditated sin. It is sin committed with full knowledge. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it is wrong. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it offends God. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it grieves the Holy Spirit. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it is disobedient to the will of God. It is not a mistake. It is not a slip. It is not a weakness. It is a choice. It is a decision. It is a rebellion. And the warning is severe. There remains no more sacrifice for sins. Christ died once for all. His sacrifice is complete. His sacrifice is final. His sacrifice is sufficient. If you reject it, if you trample on it, if you despise it, there is no other sacrifice. There is no other way. There is no other hope. There is only judgment.
Fearful Looking for of Judgment (Hebrews 10:27):
The result of wilful sin is a fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation. It is a terrifying expectation. It is a dreadful anticipation. It is a fearful awaiting. You know that judgment is coming. You know that indignation is coming. You know that punishment is coming. You know that God is angry. You know that God is just. You know that God will not be mocked. And there is nothing you can do to stop it. There is nothing you can do to escape it. There is nothing you can do to avoid it. It will devour you. It will consume you. It will destroy you. It will devour the adversaries. It will consume the enemies. It will destroy the rebels.
Of How Much Sorer Punishment (Hebrews 10:28-29):
The writer compares the old covenant with the new covenant. Under the old covenant, those who despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. If that was the penalty for despising the law of Moses, how much sorer punishment will be given to those who despise the Son of God? Those who trample under foot the Son of God. Those who count the blood of the covenant as an unholy thing. Those who do despite unto the Spirit of grace. Those who treat the sacrifice of Christ as nothing. Those who live in sin while claiming the grace of God. Those who abuse the blood of Christ. Those who ignore the pleading of the Holy Spirit. Those who reject the truth. Those who mock God. Those who act as if the blood of Christ is a common thing. Those who are ungrateful. Those who are presumptuous. Those who are arrogant. Those who are rebellious. Those who are hard-hearted. Those who are unrepentant. Their punishment will be greater. Their judgment will be severer. Their condemnation will be worse.
Vengeance Belongs to the Lord (Hebrews 10:30-31):
The writer reminds them of the words of God. “Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord.” God is the judge. God is the avenger. God is the one who repays. God is the one who recompenses. God is the one who settles accounts. God is the one who balances the scales. And again, “The Lord shall judge his people.” This is not just about the world. This is about the church. This is about believers. This is about those who claim His name. God will judge His people. He will discipline them. He will correct them. He will punish them. He will not ignore their sin. He will not overlook their rebellion. He will not excuse their disobedience. He will not accept their excuses. He will not tolerate their compromise. He will judge. And then the climactic statement: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” The hands of the living God are powerful. The hands of the living God are strong. The hands of the living God are holy. The hands of the living God are just. The hands of the living God are terrible for those who reject His grace and despise His mercy. It is fearful. It is terrifying. It is awful. To fall into the hands of the living God in judgment is worse than anything you can imagine. It is eternal. It is unending. It is inescapable. It is hopeless.
The Lesson for Today:
Do not continue in sin. Do not abuse grace. Do not presume upon mercy. Do not trample under foot the Son of God. Do not count the blood of the covenant as an unholy thing. Do not do despite unto the Spirit of grace. Do not despise the law of God. Do not reject the truth. Do not mock God. Do not be ungrateful. Do not be presumptuous. Do not be arrogant. Do not be rebellious. Do not be hard-hearted. Do not be unrepentant. Repent. Turn from sin. Come back to God. Walk in holiness. Walk in obedience. Walk in faithfulness. Walk in the fear of the Lord. And you will be preserved. You will be protected. You will be anointed. You will be powerful. You will be fruitful. You will be victorious. You will not fall into the hands of the living God. You will be safe in the arms of the living God.
Question for the Day — Tuesday, 6th October 2026:
Are you continuing in sin that grace may abound? Are you presuming upon the grace of God? Are you sinning wilfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth? Are you trampling under foot the Son of God? And are you aware that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God?
