BASIC SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 26:1-14

BASIC SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 26:1-14 (KJV)

1. And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

2. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

3. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

4. And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5. Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

6. And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

7. And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

8. And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9. And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

10. And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

11. And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

12. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

13. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

14. For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, when famine comes to the land, give me clear direction. Let me not run to Egypt (the world’s solution) but dwell where You tell me to dwell. (Genesis 26:1-2)

2. Lord, I hold onto Your promise: “I will be with thee, and will bless thee.” Let Your presence be my source of prosperity in every famine. (Genesis 26:3)

3. Father, forgive me for every time I have lied or compromised out of fear, like Isaac did with Rebekah. Deliver me from the spirit of fear that leads to deception. (Genesis 26:7)

4. Lord, expose every hidden area of compromise in my life. Let the truth come to light, even if it brings rebuke. (Genesis 26:8-9)

5. Father, let even unbelievers recognize the risk of touching me or my household. Let there be a divine protection placed over my life by those who do not know You. (Genesis 26:11)

6. Lord, in the same year of famine, let me sow and receive an hundredfold. Let my harvest defy the economy around me. (Genesis 26:12)

7. Father, let me wax great, go forward, and grow until I become very great — not by compromise, but by Your blessing. (Genesis 26:13)

8. Lord, when the Philistines envy me, let me not be moved. Let their envy not stop my increase. (Genesis 26:14)

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that famine shall not stop my blessing. Where others are starving, I shall be fed by the hand of the Lord.

2. I will not run to Egypt — to human solutions, ungodly alliances, or worldly systems. I will dwell where the Lord tells me to dwell.

3. The Lord is with me, and He will bless me. His presence is my prosperity.

4. I reject the spirit of fear that leads to lies and compromise. I will walk in truth, even when truth is dangerous.

5. The Lord has placed a protective hedge around me and my household. Those who would harm me shall be stopped by God.

6. I sow in this land, even in this season of famine. I shall receive in the same year an hundredfold.

7. The Lord blesses me. I wax great. I go forward. I grow until I become very great.

8. Let the Philistines envy me. Their envy shall not stop my increase. My blessing comes from the Lord, not from man.

Key Verse: Genesis 26:12 — “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.”

The Two Famine Responses:

Isaac’s Pattern of Fear and Faith:

The Hundredfold in a Famine:

• Normal sowing yields normal harvest.

• Sowing in famine requires greater faith.

• The hundredfold came “in the same year” — not after the famine ended.

• God’s blessing is not dependent on the economy.

The Progression of Isaac’s Greatness:

Question for the Day: Are you in a famine season? Do not go down to Egypt. Stay where God tells you, sow in that land, and expect your hundredfold in the same year.
