In spite of his blindness, Homer was the unequalled poet of the Greeks! It was in an old, British, uncomfortable jail in Bedford that John Bunyan wrote the timeless and AWARD-WINNING BOOKLET – Pilgrim’s Progress! In physical prison and darkness, the glorious genius in him was loosed and set free! Truly, darkness (trials) has wealth and riches! Does the Bible not talk of the treasure of darkness? (Isaiah 45:3a). Why is it that tribulation and eventual victory marked the pathway of great reformers like Pastor John Knox, Luther Savonarola, Calvin, etc? Is it not also true that every great book has been written with the ink of the author’s blood/ pain? Part of the book of Jeremiah was written from prison(Jeremiah 33:1). Great Is The Easy Conqueror, Yet The One Who Is Wounded Sore, Breathless, All Covered Over With Blood/Sweat, But Fighting Ever More Is Greater Yet! In this year 2026, never quit! The writer of the book, “Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do”( the late Dr. Robert Schuller), had to struggle through college without a helper! Do you know that his wife had cancer, which led to one breast being removed? Do you know that his daughter nearly lost her life in a motorcycle accident, which led to the amputation of her left leg? Do you know that a tornado destroyed his beautiful home many years ago? Yes, he had seen tribulation, yet today, that book is still on the New York Times bestseller list! Listen child of God, scars are the price for scepters! Expel depression or self-pity because crowns are cast in crucibles! Roses have thorns! Declare like Paul daily this year, “None of these things move me.”(Acts 20:24a). He did not say, “None of these things hurt me.” He may have been hurt, but not moved! Jesus wept! Paul cried a lot! I, Bishop Chris, nearly commited suicide! Hold on to God and hold out! 2026 is your year!
