TOPIC: A WEIGHT IS A WASTER! THE $71 BILLION INDUSTRY!

According to a study, 52% of Americans confessed to following a diet or eating pattern in the past year! Also, in 2023, a survey revealed that approximately 48% of consumers aged 18 to 19 includung older consumers in the European Union, reported making an effort to eat healthily! Note this: The global cost of dieting and weight loss products is a massive $71 billion industry! Wow! A $71 billion weight loss industry worldwide! That’s huge! The sad news in all this is that only fewer than 4 million people succeeded in losing weight for more than a year! So consider the financial loss without the desired weight loss! As people worldwide are struggling daily to lose physical weight (the packaging of the product; the inner man is the product), you, as a child of God, must determine afresh daily to likewise cut off spiritual weights! Hebrews l2: 1 says: “Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” So, there are things that are not sins, but they slow down your race. They are weights! A Christian friend that does not encourage you to pray or read your Bible, is a weight! Sometimes, unnecessary social ceremonies or visits that cut into your time with God are weights! A weight could be your job, especially if it encroaches on your Christian integrity! Even your food intake and sleep could be weights if they affect your prayer and fasting life, Bible studies or your fellowship time in your local church, etc. Use today’s devotional time to shed any weight that is around your life and ministry! The consequences of spiritual weights are more devastating than the consequences of physical weights! They could cost you your life, entire reward or crown! As a pastor, elder, minister or worker in your local church, there are times when church activities can become serious weights that can dry up your grace/ unction! You must be able to distinguish between when working for God becomes a weight and when it is a normal duty! What are the weights you must drop today? Don’t procrastinate! A weight can become a waster!
