⁹ If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

¹⁰ Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

¹¹ This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Verse 8: Filled With the Holy Ghost
Peter, who had denied Christ three times out of fear, now stands before the same religious leaders who condemned Jesus—and he speaks with unwavering boldness. The difference? He was “filled with the Holy Ghost.” This was not a one-time event but a fresh infilling for a specific moment of trial. The Holy Spirit transforms cowards into champions and gives us the words to speak when we face opposition. We are not left to defend ourselves in our own strength—the Spirit gives us supernatural boldness and wisdom.

Verses 9-10: The Name Above Every Name
Peter directs all attention to “the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” He does not take credit for the miracle or rely on his own eloquence. He declares that the healing came through Jesus—the same Jesus whom they had crucified but whom God raised from the dead. This is the heart of the gospel: Jesus crucified, Jesus risen, Jesus reigning. Peter confronts his accusers with the very name they rejected, showing that the One they killed is now the source of life and healing.

Verse 11: The Rejected Stone Becomes the Cornerstone
Peter quotes Psalm 118:22, calling Jesus “the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.” The builders—the religious leaders—rejected this stone, but God made it the most important stone of all. What men reject, God exalts. What men discard, God uses as the foundation of everything. Jesus was despised and rejected by men, but He is now the cornerstone of God’s kingdom.

Verse 12: No Other Name
This verse is one of the most exclusive and powerful statements in Scripture: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Salvation is not found in religion, good works, philosophy, or any other name. Only Jesus saves. This is not narrow-mindedness—it is the truth of the gospel. Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

Verse 13: They Had Been With Jesus
The religious leaders saw the boldness of Peter and John and marvelled. They recognized them as “unlearned and ignorant men”—ordinary, uneducated fishermen. And yet they spoke with such authority and power. The only explanation? “They had been with Jesus.” This is the most powerful testimony of all. When we spend time with Jesus, His presence rubs off on us. We begin to speak like Him, act like Him, and live with His boldness and love. Being with Jesus is the secret to supernatural living.

• Pray: Father, draw me closer to You. Help me to spend quality time in Your presence through prayer, worship, and Your Word. Let my life be marked by the evidence that I have been with Jesus—boldness, love, wisdom, and power.

• Pray: Lord, deliver me from the fear of man. Help me to fear You alone. When I stand before rulers, authorities, or anyone who opposes the truth, let me speak with the same boldness as Peter and John. I will not be silent—I will declare Your name!

8. Jesus is the cornerstone of my life. He is the foundation upon which everything is built. I build my life on nothing less than Jesus Christ!

9. I fear God, not man. I will not be silenced by opposition or intimidation. I speak God’s truth boldly, knowing that He is with me and will never leave me!

10. I am an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb. I overcome the enemy by the blood of Jesus and the word of my testimony. I am more than a conqueror!

11. God’s power is made perfect in my weakness. When I am weak, He is strong. I boast in my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest upon me!

12. Today, I live with supernatural boldness. Fear has no hold on me. I step forward in faith, speak with courage, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit!

💬 ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Acts 4:8-13 is a powerful picture of courageous, Spirit-filled witness in the face of opposition.

Peter and John had been arrested and brought before the same religious leaders who had condemned Jesus to death. It would have been easy to be intimidated, to shrink back, or to compromise. But instead, Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, spoke with boldness. He did not defend himself—he proclaimed Jesus.

The key to their boldness was not education, eloquence, or natural courage. The religious leaders noted that they were “unlearned and ignorant men” —ordinary men with no formal religious training. And yet, they spoke with such authority. The only explanation? They had been with Jesus.

There is no substitute for spending time with Jesus. When we are with Him, we begin to reflect Him. His boldness becomes our boldness. His love becomes our love. His wisdom becomes our wisdom. The world may look at us and wonder, “Where did they get this authority?” But those who know us will see the evidence: we have been with Jesus.

Today, you may face opposition. You may feel inadequate or unequipped. But remember: the same Holy Spirit who filled Peter is available to you. Spend time with Jesus. Let His presence fill you. Speak His name boldly. And let your life be a testimony that you have been with Him.
