BASIC SCRIPTURE 31st OCTOBER 2026 BIBLE READING PRAYER POINTS AND DECLARATIONS

BASIC SCRIPTURES: 1 SAMUEL 15:22-28; ESTHER 4:13-14
BASIC SCRIPTURE: SATURDAY, 31ST OCTOBER 2026 — 1 SAMUEL 15:22-28 (KJV)
-
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
-
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
-
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
-
Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.
-
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
-
And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
-
And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
BASIC SCRIPTURE: ESTHER 4:13-14 (KJV)
-
Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
-
For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — SATURDAY, 31ST OCTOBER 2026
Key Verse (1 Samuel): 1 Samuel 15:22 — “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
Key Verse (Esther): Esther 4:14 — “Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22):
Saul had disobeyed God. God had commanded him to utterly destroy Amalek. To destroy everything. Every man. Every woman. Every child. Every ox. Every sheep. Every camel. Every ass. But Saul spared Agag the king. And he spared the best of the sheep and the oxen. He kept what was good. He kept what was valuable. He disobeyed God. And then he tried to cover it up. He tried to justify it. He claimed he had done what God commanded. He claimed the animals were for sacrifice. He claimed the people were for worship. But Samuel confronted him. Samuel asked, “Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD?” The answer is no. God does not want your sacrifice if you have disobeyed Him. God does not want your offerings if you have rejected His word. God does not want your worship if you have not obeyed Him. Obedience is better than sacrifice. To obey is better than to offer. To hearken is better than to give. God wants your obedience. God wants your submission. God wants your heart.
Rebellion Is As Witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23):
Samuel went further. He said, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” Rebellion is not a small thing. It is not a minor issue. It is not a little mistake. Rebellion is as witchcraft. Stubbornness is as idolatry. When you disobey God, you are acting like a witch. When you refuse to submit to God, you are acting like an idolater. You are putting yourself on the throne. You are making yourself the authority. You are making yourself the god. And because Saul rejected the word of the LORD, God also rejected him from being king.
Saul’s Confession (1 Samuel 15:24):
Saul finally confessed. He said, “I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.” He admitted his sin. He admitted his transgression. But his motive was wrong. He feared the people. He obeyed their voice. He wanted to please them. He wanted to be accepted by them. He wanted to be approved by them. He feared man more than he feared God. He obeyed man more than he obeyed God. And that is why he fell.
Think Not That Thou Shalt Escape (Esther 4:13):
Mordecai sent a message to Esther. He warned her. He said, “Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.” Esther was in the palace. She was the queen. She was protected. She was safe. She was comfortable. She might have thought that the decree against the Jews would not affect her. She might have thought that her position would save her. She might have thought that she could remain silent and escape. But Mordecai warned her. You will not escape. The decree applies to you too. You are a Jew. You are one of God’s people. You cannot hide. You cannot be silent. You cannot pretend you are not one of them.
If Thou Altogether Holdest Thy Peace (Esther 4:14):
Mordecai gave her a choice. If you hold your peace. If you remain silent. If you do nothing. Then deliverance will come from another place. God will deliver His people. God will save His people. God will rescue His people. But it will not be through you. It will not be through your position. It will not be through your palace. It will be through someone else. Deliverance will arise from another place. And you and your father’s house will be destroyed. You will lose your legacy. You will lose your destiny. You will lose your place in the story. You will be forgotten. You will be erased. You will be lost. Do not be silent. Do not be passive. Do not miss your moment.
For Such a Time As This (Esther 4:14):
Mordecai then gave her the key. “Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” This is the question. This is the revelation. This is the purpose. Esther was not in the palace by accident. She was not in the palace by coincidence. She was not in the palace by chance. She was there by divine appointment. She was there by divine design. She was there by divine purpose. She was there for such a time as this. She was there to save her people. She was there to deliver the Jews. She was there to stand against Haman. She was there to fulfil God’s plan. She was there for a reason. She was there for a purpose. She was there for a moment. And she could not miss it. She could not miss her moment. She could not miss her purpose. She could not miss her destiny.
The Lesson for Us:
Obedience is better than sacrifice. Do not disobey God and then try to cover it up with worship. Do not reject His word and then try to impress Him with offerings. Obey Him. Submit to Him. Follow Him. And do not be like Saul. Do not fear the people. Do not obey their voice. Fear God. Obey God. And do not be like Esther before she made her decision. Do not think you can escape while others perish. Do not think your position can save you. Do not think your silence can protect you. You are in the place you are for a reason. You are in the position you hold for a purpose. You are in the situation you are in for such a time as this. Do not hold your peace. Do not be silent. Speak. Act. Stand. Deliverance will come. God will save His people. But will it be through you? Or will it be from another place? Choose to be the vessel. Choose to be the instrument. Choose to be the voice. Choose to be the one. For such a time as this.
Question for the Day — Saturday, 31st October 2026:
Are you obeying God or making excuses? Are you like Saul who feared the people and obeyed their voice? Are you like Esther before she made her decision, thinking you can escape? Or have you recognized that you are in the kingdom for such a time as this? Do not hold your peace. Do not be silent. Obey God. Stand for His people. And fulfil your purpose.
