10. Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

11. All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

12. And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.

13. Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.

14. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

15. Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

16. Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

17. So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, remove every fear of man from my heart. Let me not be paralyzed by the laws of men when Your purpose requires me to step forward.

2. Lord, deliver me from the spirit of self-preservation that makes me think I can escape while others perish. Let me not be silent when I should speak.

3. Father, I receive the truth of Mordecai’s word: “If thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise from another place.” Let me not miss my moment because of fear.

4. Lord, help me to know that I have come to the kingdom for such a time as this. Let me see the divine appointment in every trial and every position.

5. Father, give me the spirit of Esther — not a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Let me be willing to risk my life for the sake of Your people.

6. Lord, when I face impossible situations, let me call for prayer and fasting. Let me not rely on my own strength but on the prayers of the faithful.

7. Father, let me declare with Esther: “If I perish, I perish.” Let me lose the fear of death and gain the courage of purpose.

8. Lord, let every Mordecai in my life — every voice of truth and wisdom — be heard and heeded. Let me not reject the counsel that comes from You.

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that fear will not silence me. I will not hide when my generation needs me to speak.

2. I will not think that I can escape while others perish. I stand with my people. I stand with my calling.

3. If I hold my peace at this time, deliverance will come from another place — but I refuse to lose my portion by being silent.

4. I know that I have come to the kingdom for such a time as this. This is my moment. This is my hour.

5. I have the spirit of Esther. I am not timid. I am not afraid. I am willing to risk all for the sake of God’s purpose.

6. When I face the impossible, I call for prayer and fasting. I do not rely on my own strength.

7. I say with Esther: “If I perish, I perish.” I am not afraid of death. I am afraid of missing my calling.

8. I receive the counsel of Mordecai. I listen to the voice of wisdom. I do what I have been commanded to do.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Key Verse: Esther 4:14 — “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

The Crisis:

Haman had decreed the destruction of all the Jews in the Persian Empire. Mordecai was in sackcloth and ashes, mourning at the gate. Esther was in the palace, unaware of the full danger. Mordecai sent word to her, urging her to go before the king and plead for her people. But Esther was afraid. There was a law: anyone who approached the king without being called would be put to death — unless the king extended the golden sceptre. Esther had not been called to the king in thirty days. She was afraid of dying.

The Excuse (Verses 10-11):

Esther’s response was practical and fearful. She explained the law. She stated the risk. She reminded Mordecai that she was not exempt. It seemed reasonable. It seemed logical. But Mordecai would not accept her excuse. He knew that greater things were at stake than Esther’s comfort or even her life.

The Challenge (Verses 13-14):

Mordecai’s answer to Esther is one of the most powerful passages in Scripture. He gave her three truths.

First, you will not escape. If you think you can hide while your people perish, you are wrong. You are a Jew. The decree applies to you too. There is no safe corner in the palace when the enemy is hunting your people.

Second, deliverance will come. If you refuse to act, God will raise up deliverance from another place. His purpose will not fail. The Jews will survive. Haman will fall. God’s plan will succeed — with or without you.

Third, you may have been placed here for this moment. “Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther, your position is not accidental. Your promotion was not luck. God put you in the palace for such a time as this. You have a choice: step into your purpose or watch it pass to someone else.

The Decision (Verses 15-16):

Esther did not make excuses. She did not argue. She rose to the moment. She asked Mordecai to gather all the Jews in Shushan and fast for her for three days, night and day. She and her maidens would do the same. She would go to the king — not according to the law — and she would risk everything. And she said the words that echo through history: “If I perish, I perish.”

The Outcome:

We know the rest of the story. Esther went to the king. He extended the golden sceptre. She found favour. Haman was exposed and executed. The Jews were saved. The feast of Purim was established. Esther’s courage changed the course of history. She discovered that she had indeed come to the kingdom for such a time as this — and she did not shrink back.

Question for the Day:

Are you afraid to step into your calling? Are you making excuses because of the risks? Do you realize that if you hold your peace, God will raise up deliverance from another place — but you will miss your portion? And could it be that you have come to this very moment for such a time as this?
