Deuteronomy 31:1-8 (KJV)
1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.
2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
3 The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the Lord hath said.
4 And the Lord shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.
5 And the Lord shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.
8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

PART TWO: REFLECTION ON THE SCRIPTURES
Deuteronomy 31:1-8 – The Transition of Leadership
This passage captures a pivotal moment in Israel’s history. Moses, the great leader who brought Israel out of Egypt, is about to die. He addresses the nation and then commissions Joshua as his successor. The key themes are:
Divine Presence – “The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee.” Israel’s hope was not in Moses, but in God. Leadership changes, but God remains.
Divine Victory – “The Lord shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og.” The same God who defeated past enemies will defeat future enemies.
Divine Command – “Be strong and of a good courage.” This command is repeated four times. Strength and courage are not optional; they are commanded.
Divine Promise – “He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” God’s faithfulness is not dependent on human leadership.
Revelation 5:6 – The Lamb in the Midst of the Throne
This verse reveals the exalted Christ in heaven. The imagery is rich:
“A Lamb as it had been slain” – The crucified Christ now stands in victory. His wounds are eternal reminders of His sacrifice.
“Seven horns” – Horns represent power and authority. Seven is the number of perfection. Christ has perfect, complete authority.
“Seven eyes” – Eyes represent wisdom and knowledge. Christ sees all, knows all, and perceives all.
“The seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth” – The Holy Spirit operates with full authority from the throne, reaching every corner of creation.
PART THREE: PRAYER POINTS
From Deuteronomy 31:1-8

Father, I thank You that You go before me in every situation. Just as You went before Israel, You go before me this day, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, I thank You that You will destroy every enemy before me. Every obstacle standing in my way shall be removed, in Jesus’ name.

Father, I receive the command to be strong and courageous. I reject fear and dismay. I embrace Your strength for every challenge, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, I thank You that You will never fail me nor forsake me. Your faithfulness is my foundation, in Jesus’ name.

Father, just as Moses commissioned Joshua, I receive divine commissioning for every assignment You have given me, in Jesus’ name.

Father, I thank You that the seven eyes of the Lamb see all things. Nothing escapes Your notice. You see my struggles, my tears, my needs, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, I receive the ministry of the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. Let the Holy Spirit work in my life today, in Jesus’ name.

Father, I thank You that Christ stands in the midst of the throne. He is not seated in isolation but in the center of all things. He is central to my life, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, I declare that the Lamb who was slain is worthy to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing. I ascribe worth to You today, in Jesus’ name.

Father, let the eyes of the Lamb search my heart and reveal anything that needs to change. I open myself to Your gaze, in Jesus’ name.

Father, I thank You for Your Word today from Deuteronomy and Revelation. I thank You that You are the God who goes before me and the Lamb who stands for me.
Lord, like Israel at the Jordan, I face transitions and challenges. But You have promised to go before me. You have promised never to fail me nor forsake me. I receive that promise today.
I declare that I am strong and courageous. I reject fear. I reject dismay. I reject every thought that says I cannot cross my Jordan.
I thank You for Jesus, the Lamb who was slain. He has seven horns – all authority. He has seven eyes – all wisdom. His Spirit is sent forth into all the earth, and He is at work in my life today.
Let Your presence go before me.
Let Your power work within me.
Let Your Spirit guide me.
Let Your Lamb intercede for me.
I am ready for this day. I am ready for this season. I am ready for my promised land.
