BASIC SCRIPTURE: ECCLESIASTES 9:8-18

ECCLESIASTES 9:8-18 (KJV)

8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.

9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.

10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.

13 This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:

14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:

15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

16 Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.

DECLARATIONS (Based on Ecclesiastes 9:8-18 KJV)

(Speak these aloud in faith)

1. I declare that my garments are always white—robed in the righteousness of Christ, clean before God, and walking in purity. I am not stained by the world. (Ecclesiastes 9:8)

2. I declare that my head lacks no ointment. I am anointed with fresh oil—the Holy Spirit upon me for wisdom, joy, healing, and strength. My head is not dry; my anointing is renewed daily. (Ecclesiastes 9:8; Psalm 23:5)

3. I declare that I will live joyfully with my spouse (or prepare my heart for that covenant). Joy is my portion in this life. I will not let the vanity of this world steal my gladness. (Ecclesiastes 9:9)

4. I declare that whatsoever my hand finds to do, I will do it with my might. I will not serve God or man with half-heartedness. I will give my full strength to every assignment. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

5. I declare that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong—but time and chance happen to all. I trust God for my timing and my opportunities. My breakthrough is not by my speed but by His appointment. (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

6. I declare that I will not be taken in an evil net or caught in a sudden snare. The Lord is my watchman. He will show me the evil time before it falls suddenly upon me. (Ecclesiastes 9:12)

7. I declare that wisdom is better than strength. I choose wisdom over brute force, cunning over violence, and understanding over aggression. (Ecclesiastes 9:16)

8. I declare that even if I am poor and despised like the wise man in the little city, my wisdom shall deliver. I do not need the world’s recognition to save my generation. *(Ecclesiastes 9:14-15)*

9. I declare that the words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of a ruler among fools. I will speak quietly with wisdom rather than loudly with folly. (Ecclesiastes 9:17)

10. I declare that wisdom is better than weapons of war. I will fight my battles not with carnal weapons but with spiritual wisdom. And I will guard myself so that one sinner does not destroy much good in my life. (Ecclesiastes 9:18)

PRAYER POINTS

1. Pray for white garments—righteousness and purity.

• *Father, let my garments be always white. Wash me in the blood of Jesus. Clothe me with the righteousness of Christ. Keep me from the stains of sin, compromise, and worldliness. Let no dirt of iniquity remain upon me. I want to be found in white when You return. (Ecclesiastes 9:8; Revelation 3:4-5)*

2. Pray for fresh ointment—the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

• Lord, let my head lack no ointment. Pour upon me fresh oil today. Anoint my mind for wisdom, my eyes for vision, my ears for hearing, my hands for service, and my feet for walking in Your ways. Let not my anointing run dry. Renew the oil of gladness upon me. (Ecclesiastes 9:8; Psalm 23:5; Psalm 45:7)

3. Pray for joy in your relationships, especially marriage.

• Father, teach me to live joyfully with my spouse (or prepare me for the spouse You have for me). Let me not take my relationships for granted. Let joy be the atmosphere of my home. Deliver me from bitterness, neglect, and strife. Let me love and laugh all the days of my life under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 9:9)

4. Pray for the grace to do everything with your might.

• *Lord, forgive me for the times I have done things half-heartedly—whether in work, ministry, or relationships. Give me the strength to do whatsoever my hand finds to do with all my might. Let me not be lazy, slothful, or indifferent. I will work as unto You, not unto men. (Ecclesiastes 9:10; Colossians 3:23)*

5. Pray against the spirit of presumption—trusting in speed, strength, or skill alone.

• Father, the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. I renounce the spirit of presumption that says I can succeed by my own speed, my own strength, my own wisdom, my own riches, or my own skill. I humble myself before You. Time and chance happen to all, but my times are in Your hands. (Ecclesiastes 9:11; Psalm 31:15)

6. Pray for discernment to see the evil time before it falls suddenly.

• Lord, man knows not his time. Fishes are taken in an evil net; birds are caught in a snare. Lord, give me spiritual discernment to see the enemy’s trap before I step into it. Warn me of the evil time that falls suddenly. Let me not be snared like a fool. Open my eyes to see the hidden net. (Ecclesiastes 9:12)

7. Pray for the poor wise man anointing—wisdom without worldly recognition.

• *Father, there was a poor wise man who delivered a whole city, yet no one remembered him. Lord, I ask for that kind of wisdom—the wisdom that saves, delivers, and rescues, even if I am never remembered or honored by men. Let me not seek fame but fruit. Let my wisdom be effective even if I am despised. (Ecclesiastes 9:14-15)*

8. Pray for your city—that God will raise up wisdom to deliver it.

• *Lord, I pray for my city—my little city with few men within it. Every great king that has come against it—every spirit of corruption, violence, poverty, or darkness—I ask You to raise up a poor wise man (or woman) who will deliver the city by wisdom. Let not the city be destroyed because no one remembered the wise. (Ecclesiastes 9:14-15)*

9. Pray for the power of quiet wisdom over loud foolishness.

• Father, the words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. Help me to speak wisely and quietly, not loudly and foolishly. Let my words carry weight, not volume. Let me be heard in the quietness of wisdom rather than the noise of folly. (Ecclesiastes 9:17)

10. Pray against the one sinner who destroys much good.

• Lord, wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroyeth much good. I pray against that one sinner—that one influence, that one relationship, that one habit, that one compromise—that is destroying much good in my life, my family, or my church. Expose that sinner. Remove that destructive element. Let not much good be lost because of one. (Ecclesiastes 9:18)

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

My garments are always white. My head lacks no ointment. I live joyfully with those I love, for that is my portion in this life. Whatsoever my hand finds to do, I do it with all my might. I do not trust in the swift, the strong, the wise, the rich, or the skillful—my times are in God’s hands. I will not be taken in an evil net. I carry the wisdom of the poor wise man—wisdom that delivers cities even when I am not remembered. Wisdom is better than strength, better than weapons of war. I will speak quietly with wisdom, not loudly with folly. And I will guard my life so that one sinner does not destroy much good. Amen.
