BASIC SCRIPTURES GENESIS 3:1-7; GALATIANS 6:7
BASIC SCRIPTURE: MONDAY, 2ND NOVEMBER 2026 — GENESIS 3:1-7 (KJV)
-
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
-
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
-
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
-
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
-
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
-
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
-
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
BASIC SCRIPTURE: GALATIANS 6:7 (KJV)
-
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — MONDAY, 2ND NOVEMBER 2026
Key Verse (Genesis): Genesis 3:6 — “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat.”
Key Verse (Galatians): Galatians 6:7 — “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
The Subtlety of the Serpent (Genesis 3:1):
The serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field. He was crafty. He was cunning. He was deceptive. He was shrewd. He did not come with a direct attack. He did not come with a blatant lie. He came with a question. “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” He questioned God’s word. He cast doubt on God’s command. He distorted God’s instruction. He made God look restrictive. He made God look withholding. He made God look unfair. This is the strategy of the enemy. He questions. He doubts. He distorts. He deceives.
The Distortion of God’s Word (Genesis 3:2-3):
The woman responded. She told the serpent what God had said. But she added to God’s word. God had said, “Thou shalt not eat of it.” But the woman said, “Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” She added “neither shall ye touch it.” She added a restriction that God had not given. She exaggerated the command. She made it stricter than it was. And when she did that, she opened the door for the serpent to exploit the addition. The enemy will always exploit our additions to God’s word. He will always use our exaggerations against us.
The Lie of the Serpent (Genesis 3:4-5):
The serpent then contradicted God directly. He said, “Ye shall not surely die.” He called God a liar. He denied the consequence of sin. He denied the judgment of God. He said, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” He promised what God had not promised. He offered what God had not offered. He said they would become like God. He said they would be elevated. He said they would be enlightened. He appealed to their pride. He appealed to their ambition. He appealed to their desire to be like God.
The Three Temptations (Genesis 3:6):
The woman saw three things. She saw that the tree was good for food. This is the lust of the flesh. The desire for pleasure. The desire for physical gratification. The desire for the forbidden. She saw that it was pleasant to the eyes. This is the lust of the eyes. The desire for what looks good. The desire for what appears attractive. The desire for what is visually appealing. She saw that it was a tree to be desired to make one wise. This is the pride of life. The desire to be wise. The desire to be elevated. The desire to be like God. And she took of the fruit. And she ate. And she gave to her husband. And he ate.
The Consequences of Sin (Genesis 3:7):
The eyes of them both were opened. But not in the way the serpent promised. They did not become like God. They did not become enlightened. They did not become elevated. They became ashamed. They knew they were naked. They were exposed. They were vulnerable. They were humiliated. They sewed fig leaves together. They made aprons. They tried to cover their shame. They tried to hide their sin. They tried to cover their nakedness. But fig leaves could not cover their guilt. Fig leaves could not hide their sin. Fig leaves could not restore their relationship with God.
God Is Not Mocked (Galatians 6:7):
Paul gives a solemn warning. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” You cannot mock God. You cannot deceive God. You cannot fool God. You cannot outsmart God. You cannot sin and escape the consequences. You cannot disobey and avoid the judgment. What you sow, you will reap. If you sow to the flesh, you will reap corruption. If you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life. The law of sowing and reaping is a divine law. It is a spiritual law. It is an unchanging law. It applies to everyone. It applies to every area of life. It applies to every action. It applies to every thought. It applies to every word. You will reap what you sow. You will reap more than you sow. You will reap later than you sow.
The Lesson for Us:
Do not be deceived. Do not listen to the serpent. Do not question God’s word. Do not distort God’s word. Do not add to God’s word. Do not subtract from God’s word. Know the truth. Know the word. Know the command. And when temptation comes, do not look at the tree. Do not focus on the fruit. Do not dwell on the desire. Do not entertain the lie. Resist the devil. Flee from sin. Choose obedience. Choose life. Because God is not mocked. What you sow, you will reap. Sow to the Spirit. Sow to righteousness. Sow to holiness. Sow to obedience. And you will reap eternal life. You will reap blessing. You will reap joy. You will reap peace.
Question for the Day — Monday, 2nd November 2026:
Are you listening to the serpent? Are you questioning or distorting God’s word? Are you being tempted by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life? Remember, God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. Sow to the Spirit. Choose obedience. Choose life.
