KEY VERSE
“Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it” (Numbers 18:29).

Bible Reading:
Numbers 18:20-32 (KJV)

20 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
25 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.
27 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.
28 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD’s heave offering to Aaron the priest.
29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.
32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

MESSAGE

A story is told of a thirteen-year old girl who listened intently to her pastor’s sermon about God’s love in giving the best gift of His Son to die for everyone. He spoke about the love of Jesus who willingly offered His life on the Cross for our sins. The girl’s heart was deeply touched by what she heard. She had no money, so it seemed as though she had nothing to give to the Lord. Then, she thought of a gift that would please God very much. When the usher passed the offering plate, she whispered to him, “Please lower the offering plate.” He lowered it. She kept requesting the plate to be lowered until it reached the floor. Then, she stepped into the offering plate and stood in it. She was giving the Lord the very best gift she could ever afford. She was giving herself to the Lord!

Like the Levites in today’s text, believers are to give their best as hallowed gifts to the Lord. As a song writer, Howard Benjamin Grose captured it in a hymn, “Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength of your youth; Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardour; Into the battle for truth.” Believers are to offer their best unto the Lord. Jesus proved His love by giving us the best – His life.

We must give Him our all – heart, life, time, talents and treasures. This can be done through total obedience to His words; we must preach the gospel, share His love, and be devoted and consecrated, teach, model and mentor the old and young until Christ is formed in them. Then, you will experience more of His transforming and satisfying love.

As recipients of God’s covenant grace and mercies, there should be no limit to what we render to our God. We must give our all, our very best and lay them on the altar unconditionally. Giving to Him must be sacrificial, wholesome, exciting and free. We must see it as a privilege reserved for those who truly appreciate the uncommon gesture of God in giving up His only begotten Son that we may be partakers of all things.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
True fulfilment consists in giving all and serving the Lord wholeheartedly

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Luke 20-21

COMMENTARY

1. Giving Our Best to God – The Levites were commanded to offer the best of their gifts to the Lord. This principle applies to every believer. God deserves our best—not our leftovers. We must give Him our finest offerings, whether it be our time, talents, or treasures.

2. The Example of the Young Girl – The story of the thirteen-year-old girl illustrates the heart of true giving. She had no money, but she gave herself. This is the highest gift we can offer—our very lives. God is not primarily interested in our material possessions; He wants us.

3. Giving Ourselves Completely – The devotional calls believers to give their all—heart, life, time, talents, and treasures. This includes obedience to God’s Word, preaching the gospel, sharing His love, and mentoring others. Giving ourselves to God is the most fulfilling act of worship.

4. The Privilege of Giving – Giving to God is not a burden but a privilege. We give because He first gave to us—He gave His only Son. Our giving is a response to His grace and mercy. It should be sacrificial, joyful, and unconditional.

5. The DCLM Ministry’s Call to Wholehearted Giving – The Deeper Christian Life Ministry emphasizes wholehearted devotion and generous giving. Pastor Kumuyi teaches that believers must give their best to God and serve Him with all their hearts. The Daily Manna devotional calls readers to offer themselves as living sacrifices.

About DCLM and Daily Manna

The Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) was founded in 1973 by Pastor Dr. W.F. Kumuyi. From a small Bible study of 15 students in Lagos, it has grown into a global ministry with churches across Nigeria, Africa, and beyond. The ministry emphasizes holiness, prayer, Bible study, and wholehearted giving.

DCLM Daily Manna is a daily devotional written by Pastor Kumuyi. Each edition provides Scripture reading, exposition, and practical application to guide believers in their daily walk with God. The devotional consistently calls readers to give their best to the Lord.

Prayer Reflection
Lord, I give You my best today—my heart, my life, my time, and my talents. Help me to hold nothing back. Teach me to give sacrificially and joyfully. May my life be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You. I am Yours, and I give myself to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
