Commentary

We cried out for help and He heard us. Yesterday was a day of help. Today is a day of mercy. Because after help comes mercy – the sustaining grace that keeps you going, that turns situations around, that changes the narrative. You cried out. God heard. Now you come boldly to the altar of mercy.

We come boldly to the altar of mercy. Not timidly. Not hesitantly. Not fearfully. Boldly. Why? Because we have never seen a prayer of mercy that was unanswered. Mercy always responds. Mercy always moves. Mercy always shows up.

When everything else fails, mercy never fails. Money fails. Health fails. Plans fail. Relationships fail. Strategies fail. But mercy? Mercy never fails. It never runs out. It never comes too late. It never gives up.

The anchor scripture is Hosea 14:3 – a declaration of dependence on God alone: “Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods.” Human help will fail. Earthly resources will disappoint. But God is the one who shows mercy to the fatherless. He is the one who is merciful.

Prayer 3: Father, I receive mercy that wipes bitter tears. Every tear I have cried – over loss, over betrayal, over disappointment – let mercy wipe them. Let me laugh again. In Jesus’ name.

Prayer 4: Father, I receive mercy for a rising. I have been down long enough – raise me. Let me rise from every fall, every setback, every defeat. In Jesus’ name.

Prayer 5: Father, I receive mercy for healing. Heal my body. Heal my mind. Heal my spirit. Let wholeness be my portion. In Jesus’ name.
