BASIC SCRIPTURE: PSALM 24:1-10 (KJV)

The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
-
For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, I acknowledge that the earth is Yours and the fullness thereof. All that I have and all that I am belongs to You.

Lord, I desire to ascend into Your hill and stand in Your holy place. Cleanse my hands and purify my heart.

Father, let me not lift up my soul unto vanity nor swear deceitfully. Let my worship be pure and my words true.

Lord, I seek Your face. Let me be counted among this generation that seeks after You with all their heart.

DECLARATIONS

The Earth is the Lord’s (Verses 1-2):
The psalm begins with a declaration of God’s ownership. The earth is the Lord’s. The fullness of it belongs to Him. The world and all who dwell in it are His. He founded it. He established it. He is not a visitor. He is the owner. Everything you see belongs to Him. Everything you have belongs to Him. You are not the owner. You are the steward.
Who Shall Ascend? (Verses 3-4):
The psalm asks a question of qualification: “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?” The answer is clear: he that hath clean hands and a pure heart. Clean hands speak of outward conduct. Pure heart speaks of inward character. The hands are what you do. The heart is what you are. Both must be clean. Both must be pure. And there is more: he has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He is not given to falsehood or empty pursuits. He is sincere. He is honest. He is wholehearted.
The Blessing and Righteousness (Verse 5):
The one who qualifies receives the blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Blessing is not just material. It is divine favour. Righteousness is not just imputed. It is imparted. He is made right with God and blessed by God.
This Generation That Seek Him (Verse 6):
This is the generation of those who seek Him. Not just those who believe in Him, but those who seek Him. Those who pursue Him. Those who long for Him. Those who are not content with a distant relationship but press into His presence. They seek His face. Not His hand. Not His blessings. His face. Selah. Pause and think on that.
Lift Up Your Heads (Verses 7-10):
The gates are called to lift up their heads. The everlasting doors are to be lifted up. The King of glory is coming. He is coming in. He is not just outside. He is entering. The gates are not physical. They are the gates of your life. Your heart. Your mind. Your will. Your soul. Lift them up. Open them wide. Let the King enter.
Who Is This King of Glory? (Verse 8):
The question is asked and answered. The King of glory is the LORD strong and mighty. He is the LORD mighty in battle. He is not passive. He is not weak. He is strong. He is a warrior. He fights for His people. He wins the battle. He is the LORD of hosts, the King of glory. He is the commander of the armies of heaven. And He is coming in.
The Lord Is a Man of War (Exodus 15:3):
This is part of Moses’ song after the Red Sea crossing. Israel had just witnessed the greatest deliverance in their history. The Egyptians were drowned in the sea. The enemy was destroyed. And Moses sang, “The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.” He is a warrior. He fights for His people. He does not lose. He does not surrender. He is mighty in battle. The same God who parted the Red Sea fights for you today.
The King of Glory and the Man of War:
The same Lord who is the King of glory is the LORD mighty in battle. He is not just a king on a throne. He is a warrior in the field. He fights for His people. He defends His name. He defeats His enemies. He is glorious in majesty and mighty in power. He is the Lord of hosts. He is the Lord of battle. He is your King. He is your warrior. He is your victory.
Question for the Day:
Do you have clean hands and a pure heart? Are you seeking the face of God, not just His hand? Have you lifted up the gates of your life to let the King of glory come in? And do you trust that the LORD is a man of war who fights for you and wins your battles?
