BASIC SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 12: 1-6

ISAIAH 12:1–6 (KJV)

1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

DEVOTIONAL REFLECTION

Isaiah 12 is a short but powerful chapter of thanksgiving and praise. It is a song that God’s people will sing when they experience His salvation and comfort. The chapter looks forward to the day when God’s anger has been turned away and His comfort has come.

Notice the progression of praise in this passage:

Verse 1 begins with a personal decision: “I will praise thee.” The speaker acknowledges that God was angry, but that anger has been turned away, replaced by comfort.

Verse 2 declares a threefold revelation of who God is:

• God is my salvation.

• The LORD JEHOVAH is my strength.

• The LORD JEHOVAH is my song.
  The result: “I will trust, and not be afraid.”

Verse 3 introduces the beautiful image of drawing water with joy from the wells of salvation. Salvation is not a dry doctrine—it is a deep well of refreshing, and we are invited to draw from it continually with joy.

Verses 4–6 move from personal praise to public proclamation:

• Praise the LORD.

• Call upon His name.

• Declare His doings among the people.

• Make mention that His name is exalted.

• Sing unto the LORD.

• Cry out and shout.

The reason for all this praise? “Great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.”

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, I thank You that though You were angry with sin, Your anger has been turned away from me through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. You have comforted me. (Isaiah 12:1)

2. Lord, I declare that You are my salvation. I do not look to any other source for deliverance, healing, or redemption. You alone save me. (Isaiah 12:2)

3. Father, I will trust in You and not be afraid. I renounce every spirit of fear, anxiety, and doubt. My trust is in the LORD JEHOVAH. (Isaiah 12:2)

4. Lord, You are my strength. When I am weak, You carry me. When I have nothing left, You are my power and my might. (Isaiah 12:2)

5. Father, You are my song. Even in the night season, even in trials, I will sing praises to Your name. You have turned my mourning into dancing. (Isaiah 12:2)

6. Lord, I draw water with joy from the wells of salvation today. Refresh my spirit, soul, and body. Let Your salvation satisfy every thirst in my life. (Isaiah 12:3)

7. Father, help me to praise You not only in private but also in public. Give me boldness to declare Your doings among the people. (Isaiah 12:4)

8. Lord, let me make mention that Your name is exalted. Let my mouth be full of testimonies that lift up Your name before others. (Isaiah 12:4)

9. Father, I sing unto You because You have done excellent things. I remember Your faithfulness, Your miracles, and Your goodness. (Isaiah 12:5)

10. Lord, I cry out and shout for joy because great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of me. You dwell in me by Your Spirit. I am not alone. (Isaiah 12:6)

DECLARATIONS

(Speak these aloud in faith)

1. I declare: O LORD, I will praise You. Though You were angry with sin, Your anger is turned away from me, and You have comforted me.

2. I declare that God is my salvation. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. No fear shall control me because my trust is in the Lord.

3. I declare that the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength. When I am weak, He is strong. When I fail, He upholds me.

4. I declare that the LORD JEHOVAH is my song. I will sing praises to Him all the days of my life, regardless of my circumstances.

5. I declare that He has become my salvation. I am saved, I am redeemed, I am delivered, and I am free.

6. I declare that with joy I draw water out of the wells of salvation. I am refreshed, renewed, and satisfied in God.

7. I declare that I will praise the LORD and call upon His name. My mouth shall not be silent; I will worship Him daily.

8. I declare that I will declare His doings among the people. I will not hide my testimony. I will tell of His goodness.

9. I declare that His name is exalted above every other name. At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow.

10. I declare that great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of me. He lives in me, walks with me, and fights for me. I cry out and shout for joy!
