BASIC SCRIPTURE: 1 SAMUEL 17:41-51
BASIC SCRIPTURE: 1 SAMUEL 17:41-51 (KJV)

And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
-
And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.

And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, when the enemy looks at me and disdains me because I am young, small, or insignificant, let his disdain be his downfall. (1 Samuel 17:42)

Lord, I refuse to be intimidated by the words of the enemy. Every curse spoken against me by the enemy’s mouth shall fall to the ground. (1 Samuel 17:43)

Father, let me face every Goliath in my life not with sword and spear, but in the name of the LORD of hosts. (1 Samuel 17:45)

Lord, I declare that this day You will deliver the enemy into my hand. No giant shall stand before me. (1 Samuel 17:46)

Father, let all the earth know that there is a God in Israel. Let my victory be a testimony to the nations. (1 Samuel 17:46)

DECLARATIONS

I declare that every Goliath standing before me — every giant of fear, debt, sickness, and failure — shall fall this day.
-
The enemy may come with sword, spear, and shield, but I come in the name of the LORD of hosts. That name is greater than any weapon.

The enemy disdains me, but God delights in me. His disdain shall not shake me.
-
This day, the Lord delivers the enemy into my hand. I will smite him and take his head.
-
All the earth shall know that there is a God in Israel. My testimony shall declare His name.

The Lord saves not with sword and spear. The battle is the Lord’s, and He will give the enemy into my hands.

I run toward my Goliath. I do not retreat. I do not hide. I advance in the name of the Lord.

My stone has found its mark. The giant is down. I take his own sword and cut off his head. The enemy flees.
ADDITIONAL REFLECTION
Key Verse: *1 Samuel 17:47* — “For the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.”
The Contrast Between David and Goliath:

David’s Five Stones:

He took five stones, but only needed one.

Why five? Goliath had four brothers (2 Samuel 21:15-22). David was ready for more battles.

Lesson: God gives you more than enough for the giant in front of you — and for the ones coming after.
The Progression of Victory:

The Sword:

David started with a sling (his own weapon).

He ended with Goliath’s sword (the enemy’s weapon).

God will give you the enemy’s own tools to finish the enemy completely.
Question for the Day: What Goliath are you facing today, and will you run toward him in the name of the Lord or retreat in fear?
