15. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

16. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

17. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, I thank You that You are able to make all grace abound toward me. Let me always have all sufficiency in all things.

All Grace Abounding (2 Corinthians 9:8):

Paul assures believers that God is able to make all grace abound toward them. Grace is not just salvation. Grace is also provision. Grace is also strength. Grace is also sufficiency. Grace is also ability. Grace is also power. God’s grace is abundant. It is not limited. It is not scarce. It is not running out. It abounds. It overflows. It exceeds. It is more than enough. And because of this grace, believers will always have all sufficiency in all things. Not some sufficiency. All sufficiency. Not in some things. In all things. This is not a promise of luxury. It is a promise of provision. It is a promise of enough. Enough to live. Enough to give. Enough to serve. Enough to abound to every good work.

The Purpose of Grace:

Grace is not just for our comfort. It is for our service. It is for our generosity. It is for our fruitfulness. We are abounded to abound. We are supplied to supply. We are blessed to be a blessing. We are given to give. God’s grace flows through us to others. It is not a reservoir. It is a river. It flows in and flows out. It is a cycle of blessing. Grace abounds toward us so that we may abound to every good work.

Sanctified by His Blood (Hebrews 13:12):

Jesus suffered outside the gate. He was crucified outside Jerusalem. He was rejected by the religious establishment. He was cast out. He was despised. He was shamed. He was killed outside the camp. And He did this to sanctify His people. He shed His blood. He purchased the church. He set them apart. He made them holy. He made them His own. His suffering was for their sanctification.

Let Us Go Forth (Hebrews 13:13):

We are called to go forth to Him outside the camp. We are called to bear His reproach. We are called to identify with Him. We are called to follow Him outside the camp of worldly religion. We are called to leave the comfort of the familiar. We are called to leave the approval of the crowd. We are called to leave the safety of the establishment. We are called to bear His reproach. We are called to be shamed with Him. We are called to be rejected with Him. We are called to suffer with Him.

No Continuing City (Hebrews 13:14):

We have no continuing city here. This world is not our home. We are strangers and pilgrims. We are passing through. We are looking for a city to come. A city whose builder and maker is God. A city that is permanent. A city that is eternal. A city that is glorious. We seek it. We long for it. We wait for it. We will not be disappointed.

The Sacrifice of Praise (Hebrews 13:15):

We offer the sacrifice of praise. It is a sacrifice. It is not always easy. It is not always emotional. It is not always natural. It is a sacrifice. It is offered when we do not feel like praising. It is offered when we are suffering. It is offered when we are struggling. It is offered when we are confused. It is offered when we are in pain. But it is a sacrifice of praise. It is the fruit of our lips. It is giving thanks to His name. It is continual. It is perpetual. It is persistent.

Do Good and Communicate (Hebrews 13:16):

We are not to forget to do good and to communicate. To communicate means to share, to give, to contribute. These are sacrifices that please God. They are not less important than praise. They are part of our worship. They are part of our service. They are part of our witness. They are part of our testimony. They are sacrifices. They cost us something. They cost us time. They cost us money. They cost us effort. They cost us comfort. But God is well pleased with them.

Obey and Submit (Hebrews 13:17):

We are to obey and submit to our leaders. They watch for our souls. They are accountable to God. They will give account. It is a serious responsibility. And we are to help them do it with joy. We are not to make it difficult for them. We are not to resist their authority. We are to honor them. We are to support them. We are to pray for them. We are to make their work a joy. When they have to give an account with grief, it is unprofitable for us.

Question for the Day:

Are you abounding in grace and good works? Are you willing to go forth to Jesus outside the camp, bearing His reproach? Are you offering the sacrifice of praise continually? Are you doing good and sharing? Are you honoring those who watch for your soul?
