BASIC SCRIPTURE: MICAH 5:1-7

BASIC SCRIPTURE: MICAH 5:1-7 (KJV)

1. Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

2. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

3. Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

4. And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

5. And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

6. And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

7. And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, I thank You that though Bethlehem was little among the thousands of Judah, out of it came the Ruler of Israel. Let me not despise small beginnings.

2. Lord, I receive Your promise that the Ruler whose goings forth have been from everlasting will come forth in my life.

3. Father, let me be part of the remnant that returns to You. Let me not be scattered but gathered.

4. Lord, let me stand and feed in the strength of the LORD. Let me be strong in Your majesty and abide in You.

5. Father, let this Man — Jesus Christ — be my peace. When the enemy comes, let Him deliver me.

6. Lord, raise up shepherds and principal men to defend me against the Assyrian. Let me not be overcome by the enemy.

7. Father, let the remnant of Jacob be as a dew from the LORD and as showers upon the grass in my life.

8. Lord, let my blessing and influence not depend on man but come directly from You.

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that I do not despise small beginnings. God uses the little things to bring forth great things.

2. The Ruler whose goings forth have been from everlasting has come forth in my life.

3. I am part of the remnant that returns to God. I am not scattered but gathered.

4. I stand and feed in the strength of the LORD. I am strong in His majesty and I abide in Him.

5. Jesus Christ is my peace. When the enemy comes, He delivers me.

6. God raises up shepherds and principal men to defend me against the enemy. I am not overcome.

7. I am as a dew from the LORD and as showers upon the grass. My influence comes from God.

8. My blessing and influence do not depend on man but come directly from the Lord.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Key Verse: Micah 5:2 — “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

The Siege (Verse 1):

The chapter begins with a call to gather troops. The enemy has laid siege. The judge of Israel is struck with a rod upon the cheek. It is a time of humiliation. It is a time of defeat. It is a time of suffering. Israel is under attack. Their leaders are being shamed. Their hope seems lost. But God is not silent. God is not absent. God is not defeated. He has a plan.

Bethlehem Ephratah (Verse 2):

Bethlehem was a small town. It was little among the thousands of Judah. It was insignificant. It was obscure. It was overlooked. But from this small town, the Ruler of Israel would come. He would be born there. He would be the Messiah. He would be the King. He would be the Deliverer. His goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. He is not a mere man. He is eternal. He is divine. He is the Son of God. He is the promised One. He is the hope of Israel.

The Ruler:

This Ruler is Jesus Christ. He was born in Bethlehem. He was born in a stable. He was born in obscurity. He was born in humility. He was born in poverty. But He is the King of Kings. He is the Lord of Lords. He is the Ruler of Israel. He is the Ruler of the nations. He is the Ruler of the universe. His goings forth have been from everlasting. He is eternal. He is infinite. He is almighty. He is worthy of all praise.

The Deliverance (Verse 3):

God will give them up until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth. There is a period of waiting. There is a period of suffering. There is a period of travail. But the birth will come. The deliverance will come. The Messiah will come. And the remnant of His brethren shall return to the children of Israel. There will be a restoration. There will be a gathering. There will be a reunion.

He Shall Stand and Feed (Verse 4):

The Ruler will stand. He will not fall. He will not fail. He will not be defeated. He will feed in the strength of the LORD. He will feed His people. He will nourish them. He will sustain them. He will care for them. He will do it in the majesty of the name of the LORD. He will do it with authority. He will do it with power. He will do it with glory. And they shall abide. They shall dwell securely. They shall be safe. He shall be great unto the ends of the earth. His kingdom will extend to all nations.

This Man Shall Be the Peace (Verse 5):

This Man is the peace. He is our peace. He is the Prince of Peace. He is the source of peace. He is the giver of peace. He is the author of peace. When the Assyrian comes, He will deliver. When the enemy invades, He will protect. Seven shepherds and eight principal men will be raised up. They will waste the land of Assyria. They will defeat the enemy. He will deliver His people. He will save them.

The Remnant as Dew (Verse 7):

The remnant of Jacob will be like dew from the LORD. Dew is gentle. Dew is refreshing. Dew is life-giving. Dew is abundant. Dew does not depend on man. It does not wait for man. It comes from God. It is His gift. The remnant will be a blessing to many people. They will bring refreshment. They will bring life. They will bring blessing. They will be like showers upon the grass. Showers that come from God. Showers that do not depend on man. Showers that bring growth. Showers that bring fruit. It is all from God. It is all by His grace. It is all for His glory.

Question for the Day:

Do you trust in the Ruler whose goings forth have been from everlasting? Do you know that Jesus Christ is your peace? Are you part of the remnant that is like dew from the LORD? And are you a blessing to many people?
