BASIC SCRIPTURE: REVELATION 3:7-13 (KJV)

7. And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

8. I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

12. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

13. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, I thank You that You are holy and true. You hold the key of David. You open doors that no man can shut, and You shut doors that no man can open.

2. Lord, I receive the open door You have set before me. Let no man shut it. Let me walk through every divine opportunity You place before me.

3. Father, though I have little strength, let me keep Your word and not deny Your name. Let me be faithful in the small things.

4. Lord, let every enemy who opposes me be humbled. Let them come and worship before my feet and know that You have loved me.

5. Father, give me the word of Your patience. Let me endure with steadfastness, holding fast to Your promises.

6. Lord, keep me from the hour of temptation that is coming upon all the world. Let me be protected in the day of trial.

7. Father, help me to hold fast what I have, that no man take my crown. Let me not lose my reward.

8. Lord, let me be an overcomer. Make me a pillar in Your temple. Write upon me the name of my God, the name of the new Jerusalem, and Your new name.

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that the Lord is holy and true. He holds the key of David. He opens doors that no man can shut, and He shuts doors that no man can open.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Key Verse: Revelation 3:8 — “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

The Holy and True One (Verse 7):

Jesus is described as holy and true. He is the one who holds the key of David. This is a reference to Isaiah 22:22. He has absolute authority. He opens what no one can shut. He shuts what no one can open. No power can override His decisions. No enemy can reverse His actions. His authority is total. His sovereignty is complete.

The Open Door (Verse 8):

Jesus sets an open door before the church in Philadelphia. An open door of opportunity. An open door of ministry. An open door of blessing. An open door of influence. And no man can shut it. God opens doors that no one can close. He creates opportunities that no one can block. He makes ways that no one can stop. The Philadelphians had little strength. They were small. They were weak. They were insignificant. But God gave them an open door. Faithfulness is more important than strength. Small strength is not a disqualification. It is an opportunity for God to show His power. They kept His word. They did not deny His name. They were faithful. And God rewarded their faithfulness.

The Synagogue of Satan (Verse 9):

There were enemies who claimed to be Jews but were not. They were liars. They were of the synagogue of Satan. They opposed the church. They persecuted the believers. But God promised to make them come and worship before the Philadelphians’ feet. They would know that God had loved the church. The enemies would be humbled. The enemies would acknowledge the truth. God defends His people. He vindicates them. He humbles their enemies.

The Hour of Temptation (Verse 10):

The Philadelphians had kept the word of God’s patience. They had endured. They had persevered. They had held on. And God promised to keep them from the hour of temptation. Not just through the hour, but from the hour. They would be protected. They would be preserved. They would be kept. There is a day of testing coming. There is a trial coming. But God keeps those who keep His word.

Hold Fast (Verse 11):

Jesus is coming quickly. He is coming soon. He is coming suddenly. And He says, “Hold that fast which thou hast.” Do not lose what you have. Do not let go. Do not give up. Hold on to your faith. Hold on to your hope. Hold on to your love. Hold on to your testimony. Hold on to your reward. Do not let anyone take your crown.

The Promise to the Overcomer (Verse 12):

The overcomer receives great promises. He will be made a pillar in the temple of God. He will be stable. He will be permanent. He will be a support. He will go no more out. He will be secure. He will never be removed. And God will write upon him His name. He will be identified with God. He will belong to God. He will be marked by God. He will also receive the name of the new Jerusalem. He will be a citizen of the heavenly city. He will be part of God’s eternal dwelling. And he will receive Christ’s new name. He will have intimate communion with Christ. He will share in His identity. He will be forever with Him.

He That Hath an Ear (Verse 13):

The call is universal. He that hath an ear, let him hear. This is not for everyone. It is for those who are listening. It is for those who have ears to hear. It is for those who are willing to receive. It is for those who are willing to obey. Hear what the Spirit says. It is not just a message. It is a word from the Spirit. It is a word for the churches. It is a word for you.

Question for the Day:

Has God set an open door before you? Are you walking through it? Are you keeping His word and not denying His name? And are you holding fast, so that no man takes your crown?
