PSALM 103:1–10 (KJV)

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

DEVOTIONAL REFLECTION

Psalm 103 is a magnificent hymn of praise, written by David as a self-exhortation to worship. The psalm begins and ends with “Bless the LORD, O my soul”—a call to engage every faculty in thanksgiving. David lists the benefits of serving God: forgiveness of all sins, healing of all diseases, redemption from destruction, crowning with lovingkindness and tender mercies, satisfaction with good things, and renewed youth like the eagle’s. He then contrasts God’s character with human failure: God is merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. Unlike humans who hold grudges, God does not always chide nor keep His anger forever. Most powerfully, verse 10 declares that God has not dealt with us after our sins—a truth fulfilled supremely in Christ. This psalm calls us to remember what God has done, to never forget His benefits, and to bless Him with everything within us.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Bless the LORD, O my soul. I praise You, Father, with all that is within me. Let every part of my being—my spirit, soul, and body—worship Your holy name. (Psalm 103:1)

2. Father, forgive me for the times I have forgotten Your benefits. I repent for taking Your goodness for granted. Today, I choose to remember. (Psalm 103:2)

3. Lord, I receive Your forgiveness for all my iniquities—past, present, and future. Thank You for not holding my sins against me. (Psalm 103:3)

4. Father, by the stripes of Jesus, I receive healing for all my diseases—physical, emotional, and spiritual. Let Your healing power flow through my body now. (Psalm 103:3)

5. Lord, thank You for redeeming my life from destruction. You have pulled me out of the pit of death, addiction, failure, and eternal separation from You. (Psalm 103:4)

6. Father, crown me this day with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Let Your compassion surround me like a garland of grace. (Psalm 103:4)

7. Lord, satisfy my mouth with good things. Let me not crave the world’s garbage, but feast on Your Word, Your presence, and Your provision. (Psalm 103:5)

8. Father, renew my youth like the eagle’s. Restore my strength, my vision, my energy, and my passion for Your kingdom. Let me not grow weary in serving You. (Psalm 103:5)

9. Lord, I cry out for every oppression in my life—financial, marital, ministerial, emotional—to be overturned by Your righteousness and judgment. (Psalm 103:6)

10. Father, thank You for being merciful and gracious to me. Thank You for being slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. I do not deserve Your goodness, but I receive it with thanksgiving. (Psalm 103:8–10)

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare: Bless the LORD, O my soul! All that is within me, bless His holy name. I will not offer half-hearted praise; I worship with my whole being.

2. I declare that I will never forget the benefits of the Lord. I remember His forgiveness, His healing, His redemption, His crown of mercy, and His satisfying goodness.

3. I declare that all my iniquities are forgiven—past, present, and future. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

4. I declare that all my diseases are healed by the stripes of Jesus. Sickness has no dominion over me because I am redeemed.

5. I declare that my life is redeemed from destruction. I will not die before my time. I am preserved for the purposes of God.

6. I declare that I am crowned with lovingkindness and tender mercies. God’s compassion is new every morning over my life.

7. I declare that my mouth is satisfied with good things. I speak words of life, faith, and blessing because my heart is full of God’s goodness.

8. I declare that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s. I mount up with wings as I run and do not faint. I walk and am not weary.

9. I declare that the Lord executes righteousness and judgment for me against every oppression. No enemy that rises against me shall prosper.

10. I declare that the Lord is merciful and gracious to me. He is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. He has not dealt with me after my sins, nor rewarded me according to my iniquities. Hallelujah!
