BASIC SCRIPTURE: SATURDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER 2026 — MARK 8:29-38 (KJV)

29. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31. And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

33. But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

34. And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38. Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

PRAYER POINTS — SATURDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER 2026

1. Father, let me confess with Peter: “Thou art the Christ.” Let me know who Jesus is and declare it boldly.

2. Lord, let me not savour the things of men but the things of God. Let my mind be set on Your will.

3. Father, help me to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow Jesus. Let me not shrink back from the cost of discipleship.

4. Lord, I refuse to save my life at the expense of losing it. I choose to lose my life for Your sake and the gospel’s.

5. Father, let me not gain the whole world and lose my soul. Let me value eternity above all else.

6. Lord, let me not be ashamed of You or of Your words. Let me be bold in my testimony.

7. Father, I thank You that there is no enchantment against me and no divination against me. I am protected by Your power.

8. Lord, let my life declare, “What hath God wrought!” Let my testimony be a witness to Your greatness.

DECLARATIONS — SATURDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER 2026

1. I declare that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. I confess Him boldly.

Key Verse (Mark): Mark 8:35 — “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.”

Key Verse (Numbers): Numbers 23:23 — “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!”

Peter’s Confession (Mark 8:29):

Jesus asked the disciples a question. “Whom say ye that I am?” Peter answered, “Thou art the Christ.” It was a confession of faith. It was a declaration of truth. It was a recognition of who Jesus was. He was the Messiah. He was the Anointed One. He was the Son of God. He was the Savior. He was the King. He was the Lord. Peter spoke the truth. But he did not yet understand the full meaning of it.

The Prediction of Suffering (Mark 8:31):

Jesus began to teach the disciples. He told them that the Son of man must suffer many things. He would be rejected. He would be killed. He would rise again after three days. This was the plan. This was the purpose. This was the path. This was the necessity. The Messiah would suffer. The King would die. The Savior would be rejected. The Lord would be crucified. And He would rise again.

Peter’s Rebuke (Mark 8:32-33):

Peter took Jesus aside. He began to rebuke Him. He could not accept suffering. He could not accept rejection. He could not accept death. He had his own ideas. He had his own expectations. He had his own understanding. He thought he knew better. He tried to correct the Lord. He tried to redirect the plan. He tried to protect the Savior. But Jesus rebuked him. He said, “Get thee behind me, Satan.” Peter was speaking the words of the enemy. He was not savouring the things of God. He was savouring the things of men. He was focused on the world. He was focused on the flesh. He was focused on the present. He was focused on the comfortable. He was not focused on the will of God.

The Cost of Discipleship (Mark 8:34-38):

Jesus called the people and the disciples. He gave them a command. “Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Deny yourself. This is not self-improvement. It is self-denial. It is the denial of self-will. It is the denial of self-righteousness. It is the denial of self-glory. It is the denial of self-preservation. Take up your cross. The cross is not a burden. It is an instrument of death. It is death to self. It is death to sin. It is death to the world. It is death to the flesh. Follow me. Follow Jesus. Follow His example. Follow His teaching. Follow His path. Follow His will. Follow His purpose. And there is a warning. Those who try to save their life will lose it. Those who lose their life for Jesus and the gospel will save it. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Nothing. What can a man give in exchange for his soul? Nothing. There is no exchange. There is no equivalent. There is no substitution. The soul is priceless. It is eternal. It is valuable beyond measure. Do not be ashamed of Jesus. Do not be ashamed of His words. If you are, He will be ashamed of you when He comes in glory with the holy angels.

No Enchantment Against Jacob (Numbers 23:23):

Balaam was hired to curse Israel. He tried to use enchantments. He tried to use divination. He tried to use sorcery. He tried to use witchcraft. He tried to use magic. But he could not. There was no enchantment against Jacob. There was no divination against Israel. God protected His people. God defended His people. God preserved His people. God blessed His people. The enemy could not curse them. The enemy could not defeat them. The enemy could not destroy them. And the testimony was, “What hath God wrought!” God had done it. God had saved them. God had protected them. God had blessed them. And the same is true for you.

Question for the Day — Saturday, 19th September 2026:

Do you confess that Jesus is the Christ? Are you denying yourself and taking up your cross? Are you willing to lose your life for His sake? And do you know that there is no enchantment against you, no divination that can harm you, because God protects His own?
