BASIC SCRIPTURE: MONDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER 2026 — 1 CORINTHIANS 3:4-10 (KJV)

4. For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

5. Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

6. I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

7. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

8. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

9. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

10. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

PRAYER POINTS — MONDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER 2026

1. Father, deliver me from carnality and division. Let me not be a follower of men but a follower of Christ.

2. Lord, help me to recognize that ministers are only servants through whom I believed. Let me not idolize them.

3. Father, I thank You that one plants and another waters, but You give the increase. Let me give You all the glory.

4. Lord, let me not glory in the planter or the waterer, but in You who gives the increase.

5. Father, help me to labour faithfully, knowing that every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

1. I declare that I am delivered from carnality and division. I do not follow men; I follow Christ.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — MONDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER 2026

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 3:6 — “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”

The Problem of Division (Verses 4-5):

The Corinthian church was divided. Some said, “I am of Paul.” Others said, “I am of Apollos.” They were forming factions. They were creating parties. They were elevating human leaders above Christ. Paul asked, “Are ye not carnal?” Division is a sign of carnality. It is a sign of immaturity. It is a sign of worldliness. It is not spiritual. It is not of God. Paul and Apollos were not competitors. They were not rivals. They were not enemies. They were ministers. They were servants. They were instruments. They were vessels. They were channels. God used them. God worked through them. God was the one who saved. God was the one who called. God was the one who gave the increase.

The Role of Ministers (Verse 5):

Paul asked, “Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos?” He answered his own question. They were ministers. They were servants. They were not lords. They were not masters. They were not saviors. They were not the focus. They were not the center. They were not the foundation. They were simply instruments in God’s hands. They were the means by which the Corinthians believed. They were the messengers. They were the preachers. They were the teachers. They were the witnesses. But God was the one who worked.

The Planting and the Watering (Verses 6-7):

Paul planted. Apollos watered. These are the human activities. These are the visible efforts. These are the observable labors. But God gave the increase. This is the divine activity. This is the invisible work. This is the supernatural result. Paul planted the seed. He preached the gospel. He shared the word. He established the church. Apollos watered. He taught. He nurtured. He encouraged. He strengthened. But God caused the growth. God gave the increase. God produced the harvest. So neither the planter nor the waterer is anything. They are just instruments. They are just servants. God is everything. God is the one who deserves the glory. God is the one who deserves the praise. God is the one who deserves the honor.

The Reward of Labor (Verse 8):

The planter and the waterer are one. They are united. They are not divided. They are not rivals. They are partners. They are co-laborers. They are on the same team. They are working for the same goal. They are serving the same master. They are building the same kingdom. And every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. God rewards faithfulness. God rewards service. God rewards obedience. God rewards labor. Not according to the results. Not according to the increase. According to the labor. According to the faithfulness. According to the obedience. According to the service.

Labourers Together with God (Verse 9):

We are labourers together with God. This is a staggering truth. God does not need us. He could work alone. He could speak and it would be done. He could command and it would be accomplished. He could act and it would be complete. But He chooses to work through us. He chooses to use us. He chooses to partner with us. He chooses to labor with us. We are workers together with God. We are co-laborers. We are partners. We are teammates. We are His fellow workers. And the Corinthians — they were God’s husbandry. They were God’s field. They were God’s garden. They were God’s vineyard. They were God’s building. They were God’s house. They were God’s temple. They belonged to God.

The Wise Masterbuilder (Verse 10):

Paul described himself as a wise masterbuilder. He was an architect. He was a contractor. He was a builder. He laid the foundation. He established the church. He preached the gospel. He taught the truth. He introduced them to Christ. And another builds upon it. Another continues the work. Another adds to the foundation. Another develops what was started. Paul’s work was apostolic. He was a pioneer. He was a founder. He was the first to plant. But he did not finish everything. Others would follow. Others would build. Others would add. And Paul gave a warning. “Let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.” The foundation is Christ. The foundation is fixed. The foundation is secure. But what you build upon it matters. What you add matters. What you develop matters. Build carefully. Build wisely. Build with materials that will last.
