Unity of The Trinity

KEY VERSE
“And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Mark 1:10,11).
Bible Reading:
Mark 1:9-15 (KJV)
9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
MESSAGE
John Wesley is reputed to have said: I want the whole Christ for my Saviour, the whole Bible for my book, the whole Church for my fellowship, and the whole world for my mission field. The concept of the whole embraces fulness and the totality of the undivided, unbroken, and the unabridged force of a united army matching against every opposition power bent on withstanding its advancement. This was the picture Mark captured at the baptism of Jesus Christ. Jesus came alone to John to fulfil all righteousness symbolised by His baptism. The Messiah emerged from the baptismal river in the fullness of heavenly glory. The united force of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit stands together to ensure nothing stops the purpose of heaven for all men. All of heaven gathered to witness the beginning of a process that consummated the redemption of mankind. The heavens – representing God – opened up, followed by the Holy Spirit; descended upon the Son of God, Jesus. The three in one (trinity) consented to Jesus’ ministry showing that He is not just another prophet come from God, but The Prophet promised by God. He’s given a common, unremarkable name, Jesus – the Saviour. He hailed from an unrecognised, and a despised village, Nazareth. His region of Galilee was an unspiritual one, unlike the popular Bible belts where ancient rabbis came from. Early tradition explicitly disqualifies the River Jordan for any kind of purification, yet God chose this rejected place to showcase His only begotten Son.
If you already see yourself living in this picture and in the circumstances surrounding the Messiah, it’s because He was sent for you. He came for the sinful, though He Himself was without sin. He’s a man of sorrow, and lowly esteemed; and acquainted with our grief and shame. Yet it pleased the Father to hurt Him that we may be healed. God disrobed Him of every honour so that He might be a merciful Saviour.
Jesus came for the whole church, not just a denomination. He’s the Saviour of the whole body, not just a part of it. He’s the Lord of all, not just a few. His ministry covers nations, ethnic groups and all mankind, worldwide, in every nation, tribe and tongue. He came to save, not just a select few but as many as are ordained to life eternal by their personal choice. This is why He’s always ready to receive all repentant souls into His kingdom. None who call on Him is ever rejected.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Jesus is Lord. God says it, and the Holy Spirit affirms it

COMMENTARY
1. The Trinity at Jesus’ Baptism – At the baptism of Jesus, all three Persons of the Trinity were present: the Father spoke from heaven, the Son was baptized, and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove. This is a powerful revelation of the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—working in perfect unity for our salvation.
2. The Significance of Jesus’ Baptism – Jesus was baptized to fulfil all righteousness. Though He was sinless, He identified with sinful humanity. His baptism marked the beginning of His public ministry and was affirmed by the Father and the Spirit. It shows that heaven fully endorsed His mission.
3. The Unlikely Choice of Nazareth and Jordan – Jesus came from Nazareth, a despised village, and was baptized in the Jordan, a river not traditionally used for purification. God often chooses the unlikely and the overlooked to accomplish His purposes. This shows that no one is beyond God’s reach.
4. Jesus Came for the Whole World – The devotional emphasizes that Jesus came for the whole church, not just a denomination. He is the Saviour of all who call on Him, regardless of nation, tribe, or tongue. His salvation is available to all who repent and believe.
5. The DCLM Ministry’s Emphasis on the Trinity and Salvation – The Deeper Christian Life Ministry emphasizes the unity of the Trinity and the universality of the gospel. Pastor Kumuyi teaches that salvation is available to all through Jesus Christ. The Daily Manna devotional calls readers to embrace the fullness of Christ and share Him with the world.
About DCLM and Daily Manna
The Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) was founded in 1973 by Pastor Dr. W.F. Kumuyi. From a small Bible study of 15 students in Lagos, it has grown into a global ministry with churches across Nigeria, Africa, and beyond. The ministry emphasizes holiness, prayer, Bible study, and the triune God.
DCLM Daily Manna is a daily devotional written by Pastor Kumuyi. Each edition provides Scripture reading, exposition, and practical application to guide believers in their daily walk with God. The devotional consistently calls readers to embrace the fullness of Christ and share Him with all.
