BASIC SCRIPTURE: MARK 12:35-44 (KJV)

35. And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?

36. For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

37. David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

38. And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

39. And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

40. Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

41. And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44. For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, open my spiritual eyes to understand deep revelations of Your Word, not just surface knowledge. (Mark 12:35-37)

2. Lord, deliver me from the spirit of hypocrisy, pride, and love of human praise that seeks recognition more than righteousness. (Mark 12:38-39)

3. Father, expose and destroy every spirit of religious pretence that hides oppression behind long prayers. (Mark 12:40)

4. Lord, give me a heart that gives sacrificially, not out of abundance but out of genuine love and faith. (Mark 12:41-44)

5. Father, let me not despise the day of small beginnings or small offerings; You see the heart behind every gift. (Mark 12:42)

6. Lord, teach me to value kingdom investment above human applause — what You see matters more than what man sees. (Mark 12:43)

7. Father, break every spirit of stinginess, comparison, and pride in my giving. Let me give my all to You. (Mark 12:44)

8. Lord, help me to hear You gladly like the common people, without religious pride or hardness of heart. (Mark 12:37)

DECLARATIONS

(Speak these aloud in faith)

1. I declare that I receive spiritual understanding beyond tradition and religious titles. Jesus is Lord over my life and my doctrine.

2. I refuse to walk in hypocrisy or the love of human approval. My worship is unto God alone, not for show.

3. Every pretence and hidden oppression in my life or church is exposed and destroyed by the fire of the Holy Ghost.

4. I am a sacrificial giver. My offering, no matter how small, is seen and honoured by heaven.

5. God does not measure my gift by its size but by the sacrifice behind it. My two mites shall move the heart of God.

6. I break free from the poverty of stinginess and the pride of abundance. I give all that I have, even my living, to the Lord.

7. My giving is not for man’s praise but for God’s pleasure. The Lord sees my heart, and He is well pleased.

8. I hear the Word of God gladly. My heart is humble, teachable, and open to truth.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Key Verse: *Mark 12:43-44* — The widow’s two mites were worth more than the large sums of the rich because she gave out of her want, not her wealth. God measures your giving by what remains in your hand, not just what leaves it. Sacrificial giving is an act of radical trust in God as your source.

Contrast in the Passage:

• The Scribes — Religious pride, love of status, oppression masked as piety.

• The Widow — Humble, unseen, sacrificial, completely dependent on God.

Question for the Day: Are you giving to God out of your surplus or out of your substance?
