BASIC SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 33:10-17 (KJV)

10. And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

11. And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

12. And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

13. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

14. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

15. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

16. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17. And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, let Your presence go with me. Let me not go anywhere without Your presence.

2. Lord, let me speak with You face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Let my relationship with You be intimate and real.

3. Father, shew me now Thy way, that I may know Thee. Let me know Your ways, not just Your works.

4. Lord, I ask for Your presence, not just Your provision. If Your presence goes not with me, carry me not up hence.

DECLARATIONS

Key Verse: Exodus 33:14 — “And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”

The Cloudy Pillar (Verse 10):

The cloudy pillar was the visible manifestation of God’s presence. It descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle. The people saw it. They rose up and worshipped, every man at his own tent door. God’s presence was evident. It was visible. It was tangible. It was a sign that God was with them. The people worshipped in response.

Face to Face (Verse 11):

The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. This is an astonishing statement. Moses did not just hear from God. He spoke with Him. He communed with Him. He talked with Him. He was not a servant who was kept at a distance. He was a friend who was brought near. Their relationship was intimate, personal, and direct. Moses could speak to God, and God would answer.

The Lord Knows Me by Name (Verses 12-13):

Moses spoke to the Lord. He said, “You say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me.” Moses was overwhelmed. He was leading a nation. He could not do it alone. He needed help. He needed guidance. He needed assurance. But then he remembered God’s promise: “I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.” God knew him. God knew him personally. God knew him intimately. God knew him by name. And Moses had found grace.

Shew Me Now Thy Way (Verse 13):

Moses made a bold request. He said, “If I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee.” He did not ask for provision. He did not ask for protection. He asked for God’s way. He asked to know God. He wanted more than just God’s works. He wanted God’s ways. He wanted to understand God’s character. He wanted to know God’s heart. He wanted to know God Himself.

My Presence Shall Go With Thee (Verse 14):

God answered Moses. He said, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” This is the greatest promise. Not just provision. Not just protection. Not just guidance. Presence. God Himself would go with Moses. God Himself would be with him. And He would give him rest. Rest from fear. Rest from anxiety. Rest from striving. Rest from wandering. Rest from enemies. Rest from doubts. Rest from the burden of leadership. God’s presence brings rest.

If Thy Presence Go Not With Me (Verse 15):

Moses responded with a profound statement. He said, “If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.” Moses would not move without God. He would not take a single step without God’s presence. He did not want to go anywhere God was not going. He did not want to do anything God was not doing. He was not satisfied with success. He was not satisfied with safety. He was satisfied only with God’s presence.

The Distinguishing Mark (Verse 16):

Moses asked a question: “For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us?” The distinguishing mark of God’s people is His presence. It is not their buildings. It is not their programs. It is not their success. It is God’s presence. God’s presence separates them from every other people. God’s presence sets them apart. God’s presence is their identity. God’s presence is their glory. Without it, they are just another nation. With it, they are the people of God.

I Will Do This Thing Also (Verse 17):

God agreed. He said, “I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.” God answered Moses’ prayer. He promised His presence. He promised to go with him. He promised to distinguish him. He promised to know him. All because Moses had found grace in His sight. All because God knew him by name.

Question for the Day:

Is God’s presence the distinguishing mark of your life? Are you willing to go nowhere without His presence? Have you found grace in His sight? Does He know you by name?
