BASIC SCRIPTURE: 1 SAMUEL 17:1-1

1 SAMUEL 17:1-11 (KJV)

1 Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephesdammim.

2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines.

3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.

4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.

6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.

7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.

8 And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.

9 If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.

10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.

11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

DECLARATIONS (Based on 1 Samuel 17:1-11 KJV)

(Speak these aloud in faith)

1. I declare that the Philistines—every enemy, every giant, every opposing force—may gather against me, but they shall not prevail. The battle is the Lord’s. (1 Samuel 17:1)

2. I declare that I will not run from the valley of Elah. I will not retreat from the place of confrontation. My victory is in the valley. *(1 Samuel 17:2-3)*

3. I declare that every Goliath that stands before me—every giant of fear, sickness, poverty, rejection, or failure—is already defeated in the name of Jesus. He may be tall, but he is not invincible. (1 Samuel 17:4)

4. I declare that the armor of the enemy—his helmet of brass, his coat of mail, his greaves, his target, his spear—shall not protect him from the stone of faith. His weapons are carnal, but mine are spiritual and mighty through God. *(1 Samuel 17:5-7)*

5. I declare that I will not be intimidated by the voice of the giant. He may defy me, mock me, and roar at me, but I will not be dismayed. His words are wind; God’s word is truth. *(1 Samuel 17:8-10)*

6. I declare that I will not be like Saul and all Israel—dismayed and greatly afraid. Fear will not rule my heart. I choose faith over fear, courage over cowardice, and action over paralysis. (1 Samuel 17:11)

7. I declare that the champion of the enemy has come out against me, but the Champion of Heaven has come out for me. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. (1 Samuel 17:4; 1 John 4:4)

8. I declare that the valley between the two mountains is the place of decision. I will not stay on the mountain of safety. I will go down into the valley and face my giant. (1 Samuel 17:3)

9. I declare that every defiance spoken against me, my family, and my God is null and void. What the enemy says shall not come to pass. The tables are turning. (1 Samuel 17:10)

10. I declare that the giant falling is already determined in heaven. Before the stone is thrown, the victory is won. I fight from victory, not for victory. (1 Samuel 17:49; 1 Corinthians 15:57)

PRAYER POINTS

1. Pray against the gathering of Philistines—every enemy alliance.

• Father, the Philistines gathered together against Israel. I pray against every gathering of enemies—every alliance of darkness, every coven of witches, every evil meeting, every conspiracy of men—that has gathered against me, my family, or my destiny. Scatter them, O Lord. Let them be confused and divided. (1 Samuel 17:1)

2. Pray for courage to go down into the valley of Elah.

• *Lord, Israel and the Philistines stood on two mountains, with a valley between them. The valley was the place of confrontation. Lord, give me the courage to leave the mountain of safety, comfort, and hiding. I will go down into the valley of my battle. I will not avoid the fight. (1 Samuel 17:2-3)*

3. Identify and name your Goliath—the giant that defies you.

• *Lord, I name the Goliath that stands before me today. [Speak it out: fear, sickness, debt, addiction, rejection, marital delay, career stagnation, etc.]. This giant has defied me and defied Your name. I say today that this giant shall fall. He is not too tall, too strong, or too experienced. He is a target for my stone. (1 Samuel 17:4-10)*

4. Pray against the intimidation of the enemy’s armor and appearance.

• *Father, Goliath looked invincible—six cubits tall, bronze helmet, coat of mail, greaves, spear like a weaver’s beam. Lord, I refuse to be intimidated by the outward appearance of my enemy. I look beyond the armor to the weakness underneath. Every giant has a forehead. I will strike it. (1 Samuel 17:4-7)*

5. Pray against the voice of defiance that causes fear.

• *Lord, the Philistine defied the armies of Israel daily, and they were dismayed and greatly afraid. I pray against every voice of defiance speaking against me—every word of the enemy that says, “You cannot win. You are not enough. Give me a man.” I silence that voice in Jesus’ name. I will not be dismayed. (1 Samuel 17:8-11)*

6. Pray for the spirit of David—not the spirit of Saul.

• Lord, Saul and all Israel were afraid. But David, a young shepherd, was not. Give me the spirit of David—the spirit of faith, courage, and righteous anger against the defier of God’s armies. Deliver me from the spirit of Saul—the spirit of fear, hesitation, and paralysis. (1 Samuel 17:11; 1 Samuel 17:26)

7. Pray for a revelation that the battle is the Lord’s.

• Father, David said, “The battle is the Lord’s.” Let that revelation sink deep into my heart. This is not my battle alone. The giant is not defying me—he is defying the living God. Lord, fight for me. Take over this battle. I release it into Your hands. (1 Samuel 17:47)

8. Pray for the stones of faith—simple, overlooked weapons.

• Lord, David did not use Saul’s armor or sword. He took five smooth stones from the brook. Lord, give me my stones—the simple, overlooked, foolish things that confound the wise. Let my faith be my sling. Let Your name be my stone. Let the enemy fall by things the world despises. (1 Samuel 17:40; 1 Corinthians 1:27)

9. Pray for the fall of every giant in your life, family, and nation.

• Father, I pray for the fall of every Goliath in my life. Let him come down. Let the stone sink into his forehead. Let him fall flat on his face. I also pray for my family—every giant that has terrorized my lineage. I pray for my nation—every giant of corruption, poverty, and violence. Let them fall today. (1 Samuel 17:49)

10. Pray that you will not be dismayed by the size of the enemy.

• *Lord, when Saul and all Israel heard the words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid. Lord, I refuse to be dismayed by the size of my problem, the volume of the enemy’s voice, or the length of the battle. I fix my eyes on You, the giant-slayer. My fear is turned to faith. (1 Samuel 17:11)*

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

The Philistines have gathered against me, but they shall not prevail. I go down into the valley of Elah—the place of confrontation. I will not stay on the mountain of safety. Goliath stands before me—tall, armored, and loud. But I will not be dismayed. I will not be greatly afraid. I am not Saul; I am David. The battle is the Lord’s. I take my sling and my five smooth stones—my faith, my word, my praise, my testimony, and the name of Jesus. The giant shall fall. His armor will not save him. His spear will not touch me. This day, the Lord will deliver him into my hand. Every defiance spoken against me is silenced. The giant is coming down. Amen.
