PART ONE: SCRIPTURE READING
Revelation 19:1-9 (KJV)
1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

PART TWO: REFLECTION ON THE SCRIPTURE
Revelation 19 presents one of the most glorious scenes in all of Scripture—the celebration of heaven over the defeat of evil and the marriage of the Lamb. This passage is a symphony of praise, a foretaste of the eternal worship that awaits the people of God.
The Heavenly Hallelujah Chorus (verses 1-6)
The chapter opens with “a great voice of much people in heaven.” The sound is overwhelming—a multitude beyond counting, lifting their voices in unison. Their song is “Alleluia,” which means “Praise the Lord.” This is the only place in the New Testament where this Hebrew word is transliterated, giving it special emphasis.
The First Alleluia (verses 1-2)
The theme of this praise is God’s salvation, glory, honour, and power. The reason for praise is specific: God’s judgments are “true and righteous.” He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth and has avenged the blood of His servants. This is not vindictive celebration but the joy of ultimate justice.
The Second Alleluia (verse 3)
The praise intensifies. “And again they said, Alleluia.” The smoke of the judged city rises forever—an eternal reminder that evil has been permanently defeated.
The Third Alleluia (verse 4)
The twenty-four elders and four living creatures (representing the redeemed and all creation) join the chorus, falling down in worship and saying, “Amen; Alleluia.” The “Amen” affirms the truth of God’s judgments; the “Alleluia” celebrates them.
The Call to Praise (verse 5)
A voice from the throne issues a command: “Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.” This is an inclusive call—no one is excluded from this worship. Small and great, young and old, all are invited to praise.
The Fourth Alleluia (verse 6)
The response is overwhelming: “the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings.” The sound is cosmic—like crashing oceans and rolling thunder. Their cry is simple yet profound: “Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.”
This is the climax of history. The omnipotent God reigns. All opposition is crushed. All evil is judged. All rebellion is ended. God is King.
The Marriage of the Lamb (verses 7-9)
The scene shifts from judgment to celebration, from the destruction of evil to the union of Christ and His Church.
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him” (verse 7)
Joy is the appropriate response to this moment. The long wait is over. The bride is ready. The wedding has come.
“The marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready” (verse 7)
The Church is portrayed as the bride of Christ. The marriage metaphor speaks of intimacy, covenant, and eternal union. The bride has made herself ready—not through her own efforts but through the preparation that grace enables.
“To her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white” (verse 8)
The bride’s clothing is significant. The fine linen is “the righteousness of saints.” This is not self-righteousness but the righteousness that comes through faith in Christ—both imputed (given to us) and imparted (worked in us).
“Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb” (verse 9)
An angel pronounces a beatitude on all who are invited to this supper. This is the ultimate celebration—the feast that ends all feasts, the banquet that satisfies forever.
“These are the true sayings of God” (verse 9)
The angel affirms the absolute reliability of this promise. This is not myth or metaphor but eternal truth.
PART THREE: KEY THEMES FOR PRAYER
1. The Praise of God
The passage is dominated by praise—Alleluia repeated four times. Prayer must include adoration. Before we ask, we ascribe worth. Before we petition, we praise.
2. The Justice of God
God’s judgments are “true and righteous.” Evil will not go unpunished. The blood of the martyrs will be avenged. This truth comforts the oppressed and warns the oppressor.
3. The Reign of God
“The Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” No matter how chaotic the world appears, God is on the throne. His reign is absolute, eternal, and unchallengeable.
4. The Marriage of the Lamb
Christ and His Church are united forever. This is the goal of redemption—intimate, eternal communion with God.
5. The Readiness of the Bride
The Church must make herself ready. This involves pursuing holiness, putting on the righteousness of Christ, and living in eager expectation of His coming.
6. The Invitation to the Supper
All who are called are blessed. The invitation is extended through the gospel. Responding to that call is the most important decision anyone can make.
PART FOUR: PRAYER POINTS
Prayers of Praise (Based on verses 1-6)

Lord, I join the heavenly multitude today in saying, ALLELUIA! Salvation, glory, honour, and power belong to You. Your judgments are true and righteous. The Lord God omnipotent reigns!
I declare that I am making myself ready for the marriage of the Lamb. I put on the fine linen of Your righteousness—clean and white. Let my life reflect Your holiness and prepare me for that great day.
I thank You that I am called to the marriage supper. I receive this invitation with joy and gratitude. Help me to live in a manner worthy of this calling.
Until that day, let me be faithful. Let me worship You with all my heart. Let me extend the invitation to others. Let me live in joyful expectation of Your coming.
