BASIC SCRIPTURE: SATURDAY, 26TH SEPTEMBER 2026 — EPHESIANS 5:8-17 (KJV)

8. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9. (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10. Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

PRAYER POINTS — SATURDAY, 26TH SEPTEMBER 2026

1. Father, I thank You that I was sometimes darkness, but now I am light in the Lord. Let me walk as a child of light.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — SATURDAY, 26TH SEPTEMBER 2026

Key Verse: Ephesians 5:16 — “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

From Darkness to Light (Verse 8):

Paul reminds the Ephesians of their past. They were sometimes darkness. They were not just in darkness. They were darkness. They were identified with darkness. They were part of darkness. They lived in darkness. They walked in darkness. They were children of darkness. But now they are light in the Lord. They have been transferred. They have been translated. They have been transformed. They are no longer darkness. They are light. They are children of light. They are children of the day. They are children of God. And because they are light, they are to walk as children of light. They are to live in a way that is consistent with their new identity. They are to shine. They are to illuminate. They are to expose darkness.

The Fruit of the Spirit (Verse 9):

The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. Goodness is moral excellence. It is kindness. It is generosity. It is benevolence. It is doing good. Righteousness is right standing with God. It is right living before God. It is justice. It is fairness. It is honesty. It is integrity. Truth is honesty. It is sincerity. It is faithfulness. It is reliability. It is truthfulness. These are the marks of the child of light. These are the evidences of the Spirit’s work. These are the fruit that should be evident in every believer’s life.

Proving What Is Acceptable (Verse 10):

The child of light is to prove what is acceptable unto the Lord. To prove means to test. To examine. To discern. To determine. To approve. The believer is to test everything against God’s standard. The believer is to examine everything in the light of God’s word. The believer is to discern what pleases God and what does not. The believer is to choose what is acceptable. The believer is to reject what is not. This requires discernment. It requires wisdom. It requires spiritual sensitivity. It requires a knowledge of God’s word and God’s will.

No Fellowship with Darkness (Verse 11):

Paul gives a clear command. “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.” Do not participate. Do not associate. Do not partner. Do not join. Do not support. Do not encourage. The works of darkness are unfruitful. They produce nothing good. They produce nothing lasting. They produce nothing worthwhile. They are empty. They are worthless. They are destructive. And instead of fellowshipping, the believer is to reprove them. To reprove means to expose. To convict. To rebuke. To correct. To confront. The believer is not to be silent. The believer is not to be passive. The believer is to speak. The believer is to act. The believer is to expose the darkness.

The Shame of Secret Sins (Verse 12):

It is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. The works of darkness are shameful. They are disgraceful. They are degrading. They are defiling. They are done in secret. They are hidden. They are concealed. They are covered. But they are shameful. The believer should not even speak of them. The believer should not even mention them. They are not to be discussed. They are not to be entertained. They are not to be repeated. They are not to be joked about. They are shameful.

Made Manifest by the Light (Verse 13):

All things that are reproved are made manifest by the light. The light exposes. The light reveals. The light uncovers. The light brings to the surface. What is hidden in darkness is revealed in the light. What is concealed is exposed. What is covered is uncovered. The light does not tolerate darkness. The light does not coexist with darkness. The light dispels darkness. The light overcomes darkness. And whatsoever doth make manifest is light. The light makes things visible. The light makes things clear. The light makes things known.

Awake and Arise (Verse 14):

Paul quotes a saying. “Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” This is a call to awakening. A call to rising. A call to action. A call to life. The sleeper must awake. The dead must arise. The dormant must become active. The passive must become engaged. The complacent must become zealous. And Christ shall give light. Christ is the source of light. Christ is the giver of light. Christ is the light. And He gives light to those who awake and arise.

Walk Circumspectly (Verse 15):

The believer is to walk circumspectly. To walk circumspectly means to walk carefully. To walk accurately. To walk precisely. To walk attentively. To walk watchfully. To walk thoughtfully. To walk deliberately. Not as a fool. Not carelessly. Not recklessly. Not thoughtlessly. Not ignorantly. But as wise. With wisdom. With understanding. With discernment. With knowledge. With prudence. With skill. The believer is to walk wisely. The believer is to live wisely. The believer is to act wisely.

Redeeming the Time (Verse 16):

The believer is to redeem the time. To redeem means to buy back. To purchase. To reclaim. To rescue. To make the most of. To use wisely. To use productively. To use profitably. Time is precious. Time is valuable. Time is fleeting. Time is limited. Time is short. Time cannot be stored. Time cannot be saved. Time cannot be regained. Time can only be used. And the believer is to use it wisely. Because the days are evil. The days are dark. The days are dangerous. The days are difficult. The days are filled with temptation. The days are filled with opposition. The days are filled with distraction. So the believer must be intentional. The believer must be purposeful. The believer must be diligent.

Understanding the Will of the Lord (Verse 17):

Paul gives a final command. “Be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” Do not be foolish. Do not be ignorant. Do not be confused. Do not be deceived. Understand. Know. Discern. Perceive. The will of the Lord. What God wants. What God desires. What God commands. What God approves. What God blesses. This requires a relationship with God. This requires a knowledge of His word. This requires the leading of His Spirit. This requires prayer. This requires study. This requires obedience. The believer is to know the will of God and to do it.

Question for the Day — Saturday, 26th September 2026:

Are you walking as a child of light? Is the fruit of the Spirit evident in your life? Are you proving what is acceptable unto the Lord? Are you redeeming the time because the days are evil? And are you understanding what the will of the Lord is?
