BASIC SCRIPTURE MATTHEW 18: 15-20

BASIC SCRIPTURE: WEDNESDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026 — MATTHEW 18:15-20 (KJV)

15. Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

18. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

PRAYER POINTS — WEDNESDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026

1. Father, help me to go to my brother privately when he trespasses against me. Let me not broadcast the offence but seek reconciliation.

2. Lord, give me the courage to confront in love. Let me not avoid the issue or harbor bitterness in my heart.

3. Father, let me be willing to take witnesses when my brother will not hear me. Let me follow Your process for restoration.

4. Lord, help me to value reconciliation over being right. Let me seek to gain my brother, not to win an argument.

5. Father, let me submit to the church and to godly authority. Let me not reject correction or resist those You have placed over me.

6. Lord, I receive the authority to bind and loose. Let my decisions align with heaven and Your will.

7. Father, when two or three agree in prayer, let it be done for them. Let agreement be powerful in my life.

8. Lord, let me be part of a gathering where You are in the midst. Let me experience Your presence when I come together with other believers.

DECLARATIONS — WEDNESDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — WEDNESDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER 2026

Key Verse: Matthew 18:20 — “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Go to Your Brother (Verse 15):

Jesus gives a clear command. If your brother trespasses against you, go to him. Do not wait. Do not hesitate. Do not delay. Go. And go alone. Just you and him. Privately. Discreetly. Confidentially. Do not tell others. Do not gossip. Do not broadcast the offence. Do not spread the news. Do not share it with friends. Do not post it on social media. Go to your brother alone. Speak to him. Tell him his fault. Explain the offence. Share the hurt. Address the issue. And if he hears you, you have gained your brother. You have reconciled. You have restored the relationship. You have won him back. You have gained a brother.

Take Two or Three Witnesses (Verses 16-17):

If he will not hear you, take one or two more. Take witnesses. Take people who can confirm the facts. Take people who can mediate. Take people who can help. In the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. The truth is verified. The facts are confirmed. The testimony is validated. And if he will not hear them, tell it to the church. Bring it to the body of Christ. Bring it to the community of believers. Bring it to the leaders. Bring it to the authorities. Let the church address it. Let the church counsel. Let the church correct. Let the church restore. But if he will not hear the church, let him be to you as an heathen man and a publican. Let there be separation. Let there be distance. Let there be boundary. He has chosen to reject correction. He has chosen to remain in sin. He has chosen to be outside the fellowship. So treat him as an outsider. Treat him as one who needs to be reached. Treat him as one who needs the gospel.

Bind and Loose (Verse 18):

Jesus gives authority. “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” This is the authority of the church. This is the authority of the believer. This is the authority of the assembly. What is bound on earth is bound in heaven. What is loosed on earth is loosed in heaven. There is a connection between earth and heaven. There is a connection between the church and the kingdom. There is a connection between the decisions of the church and the authority of heaven. When the church acts in accordance with God’s will, heaven ratifies. When the church exercises discipline in accordance with God’s Word, heaven confirms.

Agree in Prayer (Verse 19):

Jesus gives a promise. “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” Agreement is powerful. Agreement is effective. Agreement is essential. When two agree. When two pray. When two seek. When two ask. The Father answers. The Father provides. The Father gives. It is a promise. It is a guarantee. It is a certainty. Agreement in prayer moves heaven. Agreement in prayer releases power. Agreement in prayer brings results.

The Presence of Jesus (Verse 20):

Jesus gives a final promise. “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Jesus is present. He is present in the gathering. He is present in the assembly. He is present in the fellowship. He is present in the prayer meeting. He is present in the worship service. He is present in the small group. He is present in the gathering of two or three. Where they gather in His name. Where they gather with His authority. Where they gather for His purposes. He is there. He is in the midst. He is among them. He is with them. He is present. He is active. He is working. He is moving.

Question for the Day — Wednesday, 30th September 2026:

When your brother trespasses against you, do you go to him privately? Do you follow God’s process for reconciliation? Do you value the presence of Jesus in your gathering? Do you exercise the authority He has given to bind and loose? And do you agree in prayer with other believers?
