BASIC SCRIPTURE: JOHN 5:1-9

JOHN 5:1-9 (KJV)

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

DECLARATIONS (Based on John 5:1-9 KJV)

(Speak these aloud in faith)

1. I declare that Jesus comes to me even when I am at the pool of my disappointment—Bethesda, the house of mercy—where I have waited for years. He does not pass me by. *(John 5:1-2, 6)*

2. I declare that I am not defined by the multitude of impotent folk around me. Though many are blind, halt, and withered, I am the one Jesus sees. (John 5:3, 6)

3. I declare that I will not wait for an angel or a troubling of the water. My healing does not depend on seasons, seasons, or being first. Jesus is my angel. His word is my troubling. (John 5:4)

4. I declare that thirty-eight years of infirmity—whether sickness, bondage, disappointment, or delay—is broken today. Length of time does not limit the power of Jesus. (John 5:5)

5. I declare that when Jesus asks me, “Wilt thou be made whole?” my answer is YES. I will not make excuses. I will not blame others. I will not say, “I have no man.” I will rise. *(John 5:6-8)*

6. I declare that I will not look for a man to put me in the pool. Jesus is the only help I need. He does not need water, an angel, or a crowd. He speaks, and I am made whole. *(John 5:7-8)*

7. I declare that the word “Rise” has gone forth over my life. I am no longer lying down. I am no longer waiting. I am rising. (John 5:8)

8. I declare that I take up my bed—my past, my infirmity, my excuse—and walk. I carry away the very thing that once carried me. *(John 5:8-9)*

9. I declare that my healing is immediate. Not gradual. Not someday. Immediately, I am made whole. (John 5:9)

10. I declare that even if it is the sabbath—even if religious tradition says I should not carry my bed—I will obey the voice of Jesus over the rules of men. My healing is not bound by calendars or customs. (John 5:9)

PRAYER POINTS

1. Thank Jesus for coming to your Bethesda—your place of waiting.

• *Lord Jesus, thank You that You did not stay in Jerusalem at the feast only. You came to the pool. You came to the place of the impotent. You came to my Bethesda—my house of mercy, my place of long waiting. Thank You for finding me where I have been lying for years. (John 5:1-2, 6)*

2. Pray for the grace to be seen by Jesus among the multitude.

• Father, there was a great multitude of blind, halt, and withered, but Jesus saw one man. Lord, see me today. Let Your eyes of mercy fall upon me in the crowd. I am not just one of many to You. You know my name and my long infirmity. (John 5:3, 6)

3. Renounce dependence on angels, seasons, and being first.

• Lord, forgive me for waiting for an angel. Forgive me for waiting for a certain season, a certain stirring, a certain miracle worker, or a certain church service. I renounce the spirit that says I must be first to be healed. Jesus, You are the angel of the covenant. Speak to me now. (John 5:4)

4. Break the power of thirty-eight years—long-term infirmity.

• *Father, this man had an infirmity thirty-eight years—almost four decades of lying down. I speak to every long-term sickness, every chronic condition, every lifelong bondage, every generational curse that has been upon me for years. By the power of Jesus, that long infirmity is broken today. (John 5:5)*

5. Answer Jesus’ question: “Wilt thou be made whole?”

• Lord Jesus, You ask me today: Wilt thou be made whole? I answer with all my heart: YES, LORD. I want to be whole—not just healed physically, but whole spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and mentally. Do not let me hold onto my infirmity as an identity. I choose wholeness. (John 5:6)

6. Renounce the excuse of “I have no man.”

• Lord, the impotent man said, “I have no man to put me into the pool.” I renounce every excuse I have used to remain in my condition. “I have no money. I have no connections. I have no help. No one will put me in.” Today, I stop looking for a man. Jesus, You are the only help I need. (John 5:7)

7. Pray against the spirit of “another steps down before me.”

• Father, this man said, “While I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” I pray against every spirit of delay, every spirit of being preempted, every spirit that makes someone else get my blessing before me. Let no one take my healing, my promotion, or my miracle. Today, I step in first by faith. (John 5:7)

8. Receive the command: “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.”

• Lord Jesus, I receive Your command as if spoken directly to me: RISE. I rise up from my bed of sickness, from my bed of depression, from my bed of poverty, from my bed of failure. I take up my bed—I carry away what once carried me. And I WALK. I move forward. I leave this place of waiting. (John 5:8)

9. Declare immediate wholeness—not gradual recovery.

• Father, the man was made whole immediately. I declare that my healing is not a process that takes years. It is immediate. Right now, by faith, I receive wholeness. Every organ, every bone, every emotion, every broken place—be made whole immediately in Jesus’ name. (John 5:9)

10. Pray against religious traditions that hinder your healing.

• *Lord, the man was healed on the sabbath day, and the religious leaders later criticized him for carrying his bed. I pray against every religious tradition, every legalistic mindset, every voice that says, “You cannot receive healing today” or “You cannot celebrate your miracle because it breaks our rules.” I will obey the voice of Jesus over the voice of religion. (John 5:9; John 5:10-16)*

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Jesus has come to my Bethesda. He sees me among the multitude. I do not wait for an angel or a troubling of the water. My healing does not depend on being first or on having a man to put me in. Thirty-eight years of infirmity are broken today. When Jesus asks, “Wilt thou be made whole?” I answer, “YES, LORD.” I have no man, but I have Jesus. He says to me: RISE. I rise. He says: TAKE UP THY BED. I take up my past, my excuses, my infirmity, and I carry it away. He says: WALK. I walk. Immediately, I am made whole. Not tomorrow. Not gradually. Now. Even if it is the sabbath, even if religion objects, I obey the voice of my Lord. I rise, I take up my bed, and I walk. Amen.
